He is only missing shots because he’s working out and it’s affecting his shot!!’

Rockets all time great victory cigar, Hakeem-esque shot blocking ability, Hasheem-esque everything else

He will be viewed as the best rim protector in the NBA.

Except he’s not in the G league now
Would be nice to see Troy Williams get some time since he was clearly the best player in the summer league and g league for the rockets

Zhou looked bad even in the G league. Same problems, can't catch a pass easily. Weak as hell. Clint freaking dominated the D league.

At this point he will be lucky to feature in 10 minutes PT at the end of the season.

He's all over the place, needs to focus on a couple of things instead of trying to do 10 and failing at all of them.

I like his defensive game, but he's going to have to figure out who he is. Either you're playing in the paint collecting rebounds and cleaning up, or spacing the floor and burying 3s. You can't have it both ways when you're coming into the big league.

Why do you think the Rockets picked him up? He is a star in China... if a billion people follow him in the 3 minutes he played, he's worth a lot to the organization... even if he sucks right now.

We all know why the rockets picked him up
It’s the people who are lying to themselves and not trusting their eyes or the statistics that should question themselves

No **** captain obvious. He's a damn rookie!!! and he's skinny!!! But if you get blocked 3 times by skinny Jeremy Lin, you are the worst player in the nba.

He sucks even in the context of being a skinny rookie taken in the second round. Alex Len sucks, especially in the context of being a former top-5 pick, but at least he has one high-level NBA skill (rebounding). Zhou is good at... Being very tall and having very long arms?

I feel like he's only on the NBA roster so that he can work directly with the strength and conditioning staff. That seems like a waste of an NBA roster spot to me, and the team just seems awfully invested in a guy whose ceiling appears to be a homeless man's Shawn Bradley.

Not sure how this is possible but somehow it seems like Goat Cheese is regressing over the course of the season. And it's not like he had a lot going on from which to regress.

He is far too weak, needs to go to the Dleague and develop some.....speed of the game is too much for him right now.

    Disagree. Strongly.

There is a reason why they are keeping him with the guys as much as possible and sending him to gleague in stints in-between instead of vice versa. It's because they are accelerating his development by having him learn with the big boys. Why? Why would they do that if what you say is true?

Here's one fact. He is already one of the top 5 defenders on this team. Paul, PJ, Luc are the there guys that you would have to consider as better then him. Ariza and Capela? You'd better pay attention. He's probably better than Ariza defensively right now. And he's better than Capela defensively.

They already know that if they run him out there as a 5 with the other 4 starters that their defense is better. This man has 4-6 inches of vertical reach on Capela and he knows how to use it defensively already. Feet and switching? He's sticker, faster. And mute effective defensively on switches then Capela. It's simply a matter of the officials seeing enough video of him before he starts getting the benefit of the whistle not being blown on him.

And if you think he can't run pick-and-roll well.....then you'll have to keep watching.

Yes he's tentative offensively. Looks bad. But he's getting minutes with the scrubs. It's not like he's out there with Harden and Paul. And he's being played at the 4, not at the 5, alongside Black or Nene in the middle.

He's going to develop here because we want him in the rotation by the end of the season.

I would be absolutely shocked if he's a rotation player by season's end.

I'm not going to write him off this early, because Capela also looked horrible in the beginning. But the difference is that Qi just appears overmatched physically. He wasn't able to securely catch a single pass or loose ball in any of the opportunities he had. How is that possible for an NBA player?

As for the defense, I haven't seen enough to be convinced that he's a plus defender either at the NBA level. Some blocked shots in garbage time against players that don't know him doesn't tell me a whole lot.
