So the Knicks passed on this dude for that French dude.
This guy looks like Steve Francis (young All Star, not old alcoholic)

Wait for "that French dude". He would make Smith Jr. look obsolete.

He already tore his ACL once. I think that's why a lot of teams passed on him. You want the guy to succeed, but your brain keeps reminding you of derrick rose. Watching that dude fly through all those trees... I mean, you want your pg to have that athleticism. Like a Westbrook. But you don't want his game to depend on it.

Stay tuned. Remember how foolish certain people looked after blasting the Knicks for drafting Porzingis.

I really like Frank Ntili's game but D Smith is a STAR in the making. Ntili will be a good player but I don't see him reaching that multiple all-star level like Smith shows the potential to be.

Both guys look like they'll be really good although Smith does seem to have superstar potential given his athleticism.

Nothing against the Franchise but hope for his development that he is a more solid player that can do a lot of things well, and better than Steve.

    Longer than Steve. Longevity counts.

I'll believe it when I see it.

For some of the problems that would come later, the feel and handle that SF3 had we just haven't seen very often. It is a short, short list.

I also thought the knicks were foolish for not making him their pick but Frank Ntilikina definitely has potential. He reminds me of a taller Tony Parker with better defense and that was before I knew he was also French lol.

That french dude by the way is Frank Ntilikina aka "The French Assassin" -- a 6-5 point guard with elite size and a 7-foot wingspan. Also, he's excellent at the pick-and-roll, a versatile defender, and one of the best international players at his age level. The verdict on this pick will be decided 3-4 years down the road when he turns out to be the better overall player.

Dennis Smith Jr looks great but lets be real it remains to be seen whether he will be a real superstar or just the next generation of the Francis/Iverson/Steph Marbury/DRose/Westbrook model, the NBA always has at least one "successor" active at any point in time.

All these guys exploded on the court from day 1 but that's just because they were gifted with amazing talent and athleticism. Once their athleticism gives out then they fall off the map and up in China. We will see if Smith Jr has the bball IQ and work ethic to take anything for granted or he will just be enamored with the NBA lifestyle and just rely on his gifts until he gets old. Considering that he already tore his hamstring before even playing an NBA game it is understandable teams would pass on him because of longevity concerns, I would pick Ntilika over him as well. This draft class is phenomenal you don't want to waste a high pick on somebody who will play at a high level for only a short time.
