At this point in the year for recently drafted college pitchers, we can assume that their college coaches have over pitched them. I suspect that the Astros just want these college pitchers to their feet wet in pro ball. Fans should not put much attention on their initial placement within the organization and on the number of innings they get in this year.
Gilberto Celestino just hit his 2nd homer of the year for Greeneville. It's a 2-run shot that puts the Appy Astros up 3-1 on Elizabethton in the 5th inning. Meanwhile, Tyler White just hit a 3-run homer (16) to give Fresno a 5-4 lead in the 9th in Tacoma.
It's been a thing for quite a while. I don't remember where I read it, but calligraphy is one of his hobbies. A few more samples:
Collin McHugh allowed an unearned run on 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2 in 6 innings tonight for Corpus. Took him 69 pitches (48 strikes) to get through those 6 innings. Tony Nuñez scored on a wild pitch in the 10th to win it; J.D. Davis went 3-4 with a double and an RBI single.
I'm going to need to know the FB velocity, XFRIP, spin rate, FsuCK, and a WOPR readout before I feel comfortable about him coming back.
Gerardo Bojorquez allowed one hit, a solo homer to Twins supplemental 1st-rounder Brent Rooker, walked 3, and struck out 8 in 6 innings for Greeneville tonight. Roman Garcia, a 19th-round pick out of San Diego, hit a grand slam for the Appy Astros in their 8-4 win over Elizabethton.
You just made me remember Ramon "Big Chief" Garcia and how solid he was at the back of the rotation in '97. Blew out his arm, missed 2 years, made it back, Rule V guy, got another shot, kicked ass with the Stros, then blew out his arm again and never pitched after that (in the US at least).
