It's like this, when the Rockets first signed Jason Terry at the minimum, it wasn't a bad deal because he can hit a few 3's off the bench.....now think if they had signed him to a 14 million dollar a year contract then. That's what they just did.
Perfect fit for our system, DMo will be our backup PF/C. Contract wise its not horrible. Its equivalent to a $15 million dollar contract under the old cap. Its not an amazing deal, but its pretty fair. Better this season than next where the equivalent contract would be $24 million a year.
So the Rockets finally found a PF that can actually knock down a free throw LOL. Anderson should totally thrive under MDA if he can stay healthy, but it's obvious with MDA as coach and Les as the owner defense is not a big priority this off season. The PF position needed to be overhauled this off season anyway you look at it. Anderson and Beasely both bring tons of offense
Just because James Anderson had his career high against the Rockets and destroyed James Harden, it doesn't give you the excuse to hate all the Andersons.
At the very least, we only have 2 bigs guys can be hacked next season. Assuming we get D-Mo back, we could march out a lineup where they CAN'T really hack our bigs. Imagine that!
Let him heal, bring him in off the bench as backup 4 and 5 when healthy, hold onto him until his true value is known since he's never had a season where he both fulfilled his promise and stayed healthy for any significant amount of time. He could be a great asset (or a great sixth man or possibly even play his way into our starting center) if we keep him long enough for him to show what he can really do. We need to be more than 1 deep at the 4 and 5 and Beasley has obviously been in the doghouse. Let these three guys fight each other for minutes. There are enough minutes for all of them if we keep them all. It would also be nice to have a few more players that could be valuable in trades.
Here's the FACTS of the situation. The league is requiring teams to spend more money. However, the league is not giving teams more roster spots. So there is no choice other than to pay players more... Use your heads people.
Fair? Nah, even 15 mill is too much for a 1 dimensional player who is injury prone. He's missed at least 20% of the season 7 of 8 years.
Sadly not very much. He has a little more offensive upside than Terry then but his defense is about the same level.
Except you previously said that you'd be fine with Anderson at $12 million a year. That's hardly the veteran minimum. And I think you and I could both agree that Anderson is far more valuable to a basketball team at this point in his career than when Terry was at the time the Rockets signed him. You're essentially just complaining because he's making a whopping 11.75 percent more of the cap than you think he should have made. I just don't understand it...
