Isn't Chandler just at average-replacement-level production? Why all the hullaballoo about his value?

He's a middling player masquerading as a star.

I don't understand it. What Parsons did on the court warranted a max contract? He did absolutely nothing the past two years and didn't even show up in the playoffs, two years in a row.

He stole the 30 M dollars from Mavs and now he expected more? This is getting ridiculous.

When he played he played very well and was a huge reason they were in the playoffs before going out with a minor injury.

He may not get the max but if Tristan Thompson can get 80m under the old deal Parsons will get more than that.

Should be three years in a row. He had 1 game against the Blazers and Batum dominated him.

The mavs dont have the luxury to let Parsons go. They have possibly second least assets in the league , no good young players and they base their team building in free agency.
Well right now its the absolutely worst and most difficult time to build through free agency because every team will have capspace and everyone including role players will get overpaid.
    They need parsons.

Parsons is actually needed a lot, he's like the new gen Juwon Howard, he puts up good stats so if you can't get a real superstar you need him on the team to act as a stopgap. Lots of team would want him despite his obvious injury history and tendency to always get owned when up against good defensive players like Ariza, Batum etc.

He's has a real positive image that is bigger than his actual playing ability. For example DD keeps saying Dwight is done and not worth the max etc. but then in the same breath he keeps insisting that Parsons is worth the max despite the fact that the dude has never done anything in the playoffs except get owned or get injured for 4 years in a row now. I mean say what you want about Dwight but at least he's been able to play in all playoff runs of his teams, this dude can't even step on the court yet he's a better deal than Dwight?

But anyway Parsons is in a good situation right now because lots of teams have cash and he's perceived as a max dude for some reason. I expect he'll have 2-4 offers one FA hits and if he's smart he'll leave the Mavs, that team has nobody good and is due for a trip to the lottery. I expect him to go to Lakers so it'll fit his modeling and tv career.

Parsons definitely needs to go to LA. He needs to be with his people in the narcissistic capital of the free world.

Parsons. Not healthy enough to play in the Playoffs, but healthy enough to go swimming in the ocean with supermodels. Priorities.

    [rQUOTEr]Tim MacMahon:

Chandler Parsons will follow through on his plans to become a free agent despite Mavs owner Mark Cuban's attempts to convince Parsons to opt in for the final season of his three-year, $46 million contract, sources told ESPN.com. With the salary cap spiking to a projected $94 million this summer, Parsons' camp expects him to receive a significant raise in free agency.[/rQUOTEr]
