    The Deadspin Awards are in July, and we need our readers to decide the winners of these prestigious honors. Today, we ask you to consider a weighty matter: Who deserves the Memorial Award for Worst General Manager of the Year and Worst Coach of the Year?
    The GM nominees, in no particular order:
    Ernie Grunfeld, Washington Wizards GM
    Daryl Morey, Houston Rockets GM

    This is pretty much not very good at all.

    What mistakes did Moery make? Not paying Ariza $15 mil? Re-signing Chris Paul? Signing Carmelo for the veteran minimum is a low-risk move that hardly qualifies as league's-worst-GM material. Cutting ties cleanly after 10 games was what competent GMs do in that situation. Picking up doods like Gary Clark is what the league's best GMs do.

    Surely, the Rockets have underperformed but I don't think you can attribute that to poor performance from D'Antoni. More like an absence of Bzdelik, if anything. Bad D. But really, the team just wasn't hitting their shots, many on open looks. Coaching creates those open shots, coaches can't control whether they go in or not.

    Why does he look like an idiot? Is he supposed to pay Ariza 15M (check his stats in PHX) and match Luc (dude has played only 4 games this year)?

    I can understand if Morey actually made a dumb move but none of hus moves are bad how was he supposed to predict Capela and Cp3 would come in out of shape?

    The Rox have underperformed but it is the type of underperformance you can't predict no matter how good of a GM you are.

    Funny part is... for all the b****in about this being a stupid thread and undeserved and everything.... it's the same stuff thats all over this board...

    I've been hearing all season about how DM and Tilman destroyed a championship roster... how foolish it was to let Luc and Ariza go... how stupid it was to bring Melo in...etc...

    and MDA... guys finally got motivated for a period... but it basically looked like he had no control and didnt have a clue about defense to start the season....

    Make up your mind, folks... if yer gonna b**** about DM and MDA - dont get yer panties in a twist when some other entity takes them to task... smh...


    Feel free to go here to delve into (as DD put it) "Fixing this mess of a roster"... lol

    What the **** even is this thread? It links to a post from June 2016. Are you writing your own veiled criticism in November 2018 and using some stupid, old contest from that site as a vehicle to make your point? Or do you work for Deadspin or what?     Morey isn't the worst GM , but he isn't a good GM. A team which wants to win a champion needs an elite GM. Morey is goo at doing sth. good then doing sth. bad

    Morey is a good GM, but he is not a great GM and his work this year has been pathetic. The huge mistake of bringing Carmelo, the crazy contract of Paul who can not play two consecutive nights, the unusual arrival of injured Knight, and the responsibility of creating the worst bench of the entire NBA. He should fix this disaster quickly.

    Tough to win when you have 45 million on the bench injured.

    I still think we will be fine. Long term we have re-ignited EG and we got CP3 some rest. A couple deals/tweaks and we will be back in business.

    It’s like people forget money built a championship team that went toe to toe with the most talented team of all time (and refs)without tanking.

    It’s like people forget he got an mvp for Kevin Martin and Jeremy lamb.

    I know people are frustrated right now but Morey is nowhere near the worst GM
