The ORIGINAL Mega Man with Cut Man, Elec Man, Ice Man, Fire Man, Guts Man, and Bomb Man? Wiley's castle was impossible. You had to go through those long levels and beat two bosses on just three men.

I got Wind Waker a couple of days ago. Kick ass game, haven't played it a whole lot. That mgs level at the beginning was annoying the hell out of me.

I beat MM2 and a couple of others, but never played the first one.

I almost beat Gaiden R03, made it too the last boss a few times, but it was a b**** to make it to him, and he was ****ing hard to boot. I rarely even wanted to attempt to beat him for all the frustration he caused. Same with Gaiden 2, but at least that was a rental.

While I never did beat Mega Man without an emulator I did once beat Ninja Gaiden. I played that game a lot! It will always hold a dear place in my heart for one of the best examples of nintendo logic ever: bazookas did 2 points of damage and hawks did 3. Never did get over that...

Btw - show me the man who beat Battle Toads without using an emulator and I will show you the greatest video game player ever. That game is damn near impossible to beat even with save/load states!

Yeah I'm pretty sure I beat it. I don't recall it being that hard.

I refuse to believe dylan and Crisco made it to the last guy, much less beat it. I could never get past this one stage where you had to keep jumping all over some platforms.

Another hard ass game was T2 in the arcades. Me and my friend would literally spend about $20-30 in quarters to beat that thing.

One of my friends beat Ninja Gaiden but the game froze when he did it. I was his witness though.

I don't get all of this "Mega Man was hard" stuff. That was the only one in the series I could ever beat.

    Other toughies:

TMNT- used a Game Genie on this a few years ago and parts of the Technodrome appear im-****ing-possible without it. Also, has like the worst ending ever when you factor in the difficulty.

Friday the 13th- I take that back, this has the worst ending ever for such a b**** of a game.

TMNT was like the easiest game ever made.

Yeah but have you gotten to Great Tiger in the NES wrestling game. That was tough. My hands hurt for about 3 days after that.

TMNT was easy, you just had to keep doing the jumpkicks over and over.

R03, disbelieve me if you want, but it was all about freaking memorizing every part of the levels. :)

dylan, battletoads was a b****, but I loved that game. Those parts with the hovercycles is one of the hardest things I've ever experienced. And I remember crashing into the walls over and over just to get to those stupid warp points. Never came close to beating that.

I actually did beat Battle Toads, Ninja Gaiden and the original Mega Man on the Nintendo. I have no idea if I could pull it off today on an emulator. Battle Toads by far was much tougher than the original Mega Man. About the only game I can think of that compares to Battle Toads in difficulty is the original Blaster Master.

Want a b**** of an NES game? How about Zelda 2 The adventures of Link, That game took so friggin long to beat, and it was nothing like the first Zelda.

Zelda 2 was mildly tough. Just took getting used too. Get through it once and you'll never have trouble again.

And for the record, the TMNT I'm referring to is not the arcade adaptation, if that's where any of you are getting this easy business from.

Oh that one. Okay the first one wasn't that easy, but ehh...

One of the most funnest games on NES was Bubble Bobble. That thing was pretty damn easy, but damn it was fun.

Blaster Master was tough but I don't remember it being that bad. Course I did have to use a cheat in that game. Anyone remember this: On some of the bosses in Blaster Master if you threw a grenade, the hit pause, the grenade kept hitting the boss and doing damage. All you had to do was hit it once then pause for about five minutes. Cheap, but effective. Too bad it only worked on about half the bosses. :D

ah, ok, I forgot about that TMNT. I hated that one, so I never got that far into it. Same for Zelda 2.

Man, I must have really sucked at video games, then. I forgot all about Battletoads! Hardest game ever imagined. Oh well, I'm going to get a copy of all my friend's emulators and ROMs, so I guess I'll have to try all those games again.

Hardest final boss ever was Mike Tyson on Mike Tyson's Punch Out. I never did have the quick reflexes to keep dodging those 1st round uppercuts.

No wonder you didn't think Blaster Master was that bad! The bosses were a childhood nightmare for me. It was the first game I felt like giving up on.

I think I've beaten Tyson 30+ times, but partially because my friends wanted to see it in action. As soon as you see white, go right or left then start punching away. You can mess up two times in the first round and still get away with a win.

I've tried recently on an emulator and I can only beat him about 20% of the time. After playing five times and finally winning I have decided to go back to my PS2 games.

Yeah, emulators don't count. It's NES or nothing, baby.

Avoiding Mike Tyson's punches is easy if you don't look at him. Instead, focus on the ring mat a couple of inches away. That way, you won't anticipate and dodge before he punches. I've TKO'd him many times. However, the very first time I beat Tyson was by final decision. I thought that was pretty cool.

Ninja Gaiden is very tough. Stage 6-2 is a pain and 6-3 is not much easier. I've made it to Jaquio many, many times but I never could beat him because when you get there you don't get to use your special weapons during that fight. I usually managed to get him down to 4 blocks of energy with just my sword before he killed me. I was sure that if I was somehow able to fight him with a Slash or Art of Fire Wheel that I would mop the floor with him. I never found out until years later that if you let him kill you and then play through the entire sequence of levels again (6-1 - 6-3) to get back up to him that you can use special weapons. Doh. On another note, Ninja Gaiden 3 is my favorite of the series. I despise Ninja Gaiden 2.

I never played the original Mega Man. It's too hard to find! Also never owned Blaster Master as a kid.

I've beaten TMNT quite a few times. People used to invite me over to their house so they could see me do it. The only real difficult part is that final corridor in the Technodrome leading up to Shredder with those flying men who shoot lasers.

Battletoads is very hard. I never owned it, though. Only rented it a few times. Double Dragon 3 is another tough one. I honestly can't remember if I've beaten it or not. I think I beat the last boss (girl flying around) with the little Chinese dude. Not 100% certain, though.

Also, I've said it before and I'll say it again. I am the best Contra player on the planet. All the way through in one life with no power-ups, baby!

I've done that myself and know quite a few others who have done it as well. Contra might be one of the best games ever made, but it is way too freakin easy.
