Let me see ... Sura (knee surgery), Mutumbo (too slow) and Howard (too weak) for Randolph? I can live with that, what do we lose? We can have a 'decent' PF ... OK maby he is a pain in the ass sometimes, but who cares? I don 't ... CD sign the big guy!
I don't think the Blazers would be interested. I would be interested in a slimmed down and quicker Zach Randolph. I'm saying drop 10-15lbs off his playing weight, new physique. He has terriffic skills and with that kind of change I think he could school a lot of players. I'm not sure how consistent his 15-foot J is though. I know he's a terriffic rebounder, and as I recall, a surprisingly decent/average shotblocker. He makes a ton of money but if we're getting rid of Juwan in the deal, it's worth the premium. But ofcourse, then we'd have to say goodbye to re-signing anyone or spending any money for a while. That would be our final shot at a championship.
Randolph would destroy team chemistry....... Everytime he touches the ball you KNOW one of three things will happen: 1. He's not going to pass the ball. 2. He's going to shoot the ball. Doesn't matter how low percentage of a shot he see's, he's taking it. 3. He's going to to turn it over. He has low basketball IQ with conditiong issues and he doesn't play defense. Not to mention he's owed a ton of money over the next few years. This doesn't sound like a player who fits the new "moneyball" criteria very well.
While I wouldn't do tha trade, I see nothing wrong with this thread. A couple of posts up is why I wouldn't do it. Randolph certainly has more talent than what we'd be giving up, at this point in their careers, but man, the more he shoots, the worse he gets, or so it seems. He reminds me a lot of Kenny Thomas, actually.
1. Black hole 2. Needs the rock to be effective 3. Best in the low post and we've got the best low post scorer in the game 4. Occasional attitude problem NO
It's always a good to let a few weeks, if not months, pass before starting threads on a new board. Lurk a bit, post a bit, get a good feel, learn a few things, etc. Starting threads within your first 5 posts rarely works out well, even if you're a very knowledgable person. That said, Zach Randolph is a perfect litmus test for NBA fans. On the outside, he looks like an all-star level PF stuck on a bad team; he bulldozes anyone in his way to the rim, good offensive rebounder, and puts up nice numbers. However, he's earned his reputation as a locker room cancer and a me-only guy on the floor with complete disdain for defense. He shows little regard for his team or profession, choosing nightclubs and bad friends over offseason workouts. He's a Baron Davis at the 4. Evan
Randolph is a BYC player... i would rather trade for D-miles... i know people are like wtf? but Miles actually plays defense and having randolph in the paint would clog up the paint not allowing yao to be as effective as he could/should be. No to Zach Randolph
haha, are Juwan's previous all-star years even relevant in this argument? Unless I'm reading this wrong, Randolph averaged about 18/8 last year, and Juwan avg was 11/6.7 (I'm suprised it was even that high). That being said, I'm not so sure Randolph would our best answer to the PF situation or if we could even handle this contract.
Randolph's attitude stems from having assholes for teammates IMO. He really let the people around him dictate his personality. If you were on a team with Ruben Patterson, Darius Miles, and Rasheed Wallace, you'd go nuts too. But that's not what scares me. What scares me is: 1. his contract 2. his propensity for NOT rebounding
