F**k it, lets see what happens. This season has felt absolutely cursed almost from the start, it would be hard for me to doubt any kind of shake up right now.
let's say the kid tears it up...I assume he won't be post-season eligible since he wasn't on the 40 man prior to Sept. 1?
You can say that again. Let's hope that hot bat continues and gives this lifeless lineup a sorely-needed jolt of energy.
Good question. I'm not sure if that rule applies to the 40-man roster. Could be wrong, but I think he's eligible since he's already in the organization. If I remember correctly, David Hensley wasn't called up until September then gave us some excellent AB's during that 2022 playoff run.
Is this kid our version of Kyle Schwarber? High strikeouts, but if he gets a hold of one, it leaves the park? I just looked at some videos. He's not very big for a guy that can launch the ball.
I just did more research. He's rated with an 70 arm and 60 in the field and run. Woah. If he can hit, he's sticking around.
I think Hensley was called up late August, but I do remember Evan Carter being a mid-Sept callup for the Rangers in 2023 and they used some bs loophole that pissed a bunch of people off. Maybe it's our turn.
Any player in the organization prior to 9/1 is eligible for the playoff roster. They do not have to be on the 40 man. I expect Cole to strike out in over half his at bats. But he may hit for enough power to still be playable. We’ll see. Offense definitely needs a spark. Pretty odd that he was called up considering he was just announced to the Arizona Fall League roster.
Yep, you're right. Just checked his game log, he made his debut on 8-27-2022. As for Cole, we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. Let's see him hit 6 bombs with a 1.050 OPS over the next 2 weeks to crush the Mariners and Rangers hopes and dreams first.
They did not call him up and start his clock to sit on the bench. We've got other options if we just wanted a defensive replacement/pinch runner.
Zach Cole really rode a heater all the way to Houston. Well, we're clearly in the "try anything" stage. Good for my agenda
