You've heard triple doubles, how about 5x5s?

Dec 06 2003 - According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Andrei Kirilenko's ''5x5'' from Wednesday was a rare feat only matched twice in the last 10 years. Triple-doubles get all the pub, but a 5x5 (at least five each of points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks in one game), has only been managed by Vlade Divac (1995) and Jamaal Tinsley (2001) during the past decade. Wednesday, Kirilenko had 19 points, five boards, seven assists, eight steals, and five blocks. It's easy to see why he has the fifth-best Efficiency rating in the league. Link

Jamal Tinsley was a blocking machine his rookie year. I remember tracking him playing fantasy. It was freakin ridiculous the number of blocks he got for playing the point. It was like every other game he'd be good for a block. I know that doesn't mean much, but fantasy wise, that's just crazy for your PG to do that. It's like when Dirk started playing Center a year or two ago. That was so unfair, cause all of a sudden you see C, PF, SF, by Dirk's name.

As for AK47, he's just sick. Damn I wish I had him on my team, especially since Artest has been slipping lately.

Jamal Tinsley looks exactly like Joe Claire, the host from Rap City before Tiger.

Anyway, I can't remember who it was on 610, I think Lance, saying that they might take Kerilinko in front of Nowitzki. If he continues to improve he might be a better player

AK does something few Euros excel at: play D! He has the Euro influence of a pretty reliable stroke from anywhere on the floor, but the thing that makes him stand out above Peja, Dirk, or even Pau is his D. This man is sick; played pro ball for Russia at age 15, won a Russian slam dunk contest I think at age 17, and has only been getting BETTER every year. I loved him when liking a Jazzhole was UNTHINKABLE. He's definitely a franchise player (which many were doubting in the offseason). Think Ben Wallace meets Dirk Nowitzki and you have a rough approximation of AK47.

And people laughed at me when I took him in the 2nd round of fantasy draft...

He's the most versatile player in the NBA. I really can't think of a single weakness in his game.

Count me in the AK-47 fan club. I love the guy's game and I bet he's really interesting. The mohawk is sweet. And the fact that his number is 47 to make him AK-47 is hilarious. I wish he was on my fantasy squad. Why does he have to be on the Jazz?

Hakeem never got 5 blocks and 5 assist in the same game?

    That's surprising..

You're forgetting steals. Five steals is very hard to get, considering the all time single season record is 3.67/game by Alvin Robertson in 85/86

But Hakeem was always up there among the league leaders in steals. Isn't he up there on the all-time leaders list in steals?

I'm a bit surprised, too. When I read "onlyl one in the last 10 years," I immediately suspected it might be Hakeem. Oh well.

Hakeem is actually seventh on the all time steals list, just passed up by Gary Payton this season. The next best center on the all time list is David Robinson at 35th.

Of course, steals is one of those statistics in which there isn't a big fluctuation from game to game. Iverson leads the league in steals this year and only has two games of five or more

I have a feeling I'll get flamed for this comparison, but AK-47 reminds me of a young Scottie Pippen: filthy defender and versatile scorer in a long, athletic frame. I can see him as an All-Star for many years to come.

Reminds me of a Detlef Schrempf in his Prime only better.
