Maybe it's just me, but this week, Youtube did some changes to their site and now, whatever browser i'm on, FF, IE, Opera, it always locks up and gets really slow. I think the culprit is this new feature that shows you what videos people are currently watching when you get on the site. If I'm on their main page, it gets all slow and if I'm able to click back to another open tab, everything runs fine. So lately I've been opening up a whole new window just for Youtube and of course, it gets all laggy so I minimize it and I can have like 10 tabs open and won't have any problems in the other window as long as one isn't Youtube. Last night, I opened up IE and FF and went to Youtube on both. They of course started locking up and it would take like a minute just to get the typing cursor in the search field. I left them both open and went to bed and this morning I got the system resources warning. Is anybody else having this problem or do just suck at teh innernets? If somebody is going to ask about my ram, 1024.
its always been slow for me ever since i've had firefox dunno why but i usually dont go to youtube much anymore. the videos are fine its just the pages take forever to load too for me
Maybe try to update to the latest very latest FLASH plugin? That's what the "new feature" uses. Give the FLASH thing update a try... maybe it's not the latest? EDIT: I stand corrected. It did it to me, too. Here's recreating the problem: Open an IE browser window. Go to www.youtube.com . Don't click anything in the main page. Keep the original window, then hit CTRL+N to get a new browser window. You can browse on the other window for 5-10 minutes, then try to come back to the original YouTube window. Good luck reviving IE.
On a similar note, freakin' weather.com crashes my brouser (IE7) when I put the map in motion. Both my machine at work and at home.
Oddly enough, I've noticed that scribbling your mouse over the youtube screen tends to enhance the download time. I'm not joking. Try it. Youtube has gone r****ded. Time for somebody to create a new version that is less annoying.
Fatty, the plug-in you need for weather.com's moving maps is Java, while the plug-in you need for YouTube is Flash. You'll see the Java icon appear on your icon tray... I think? What is "scribbling" the mouse? Jiggling it? Plug-ins this... plug-ins that... man, it's insane...
