    1. Hannibal Lectar (Silence of the Lambs) - Probably the most memorable character IMO ever.

    2. Hans Gruber (Die Hard) - Probably the most sopisticated one on the list. Such nice suits.

    3. Darth Vadar (Star Wars) - He can choke you with his mind....HIS F***ING MIND!!!

4.The Joker (Dark Knight) - "Some men just want to watch the world burn." Alfred was more than right on that one

    5. Hal 9000 (2001: A Space Odyssey) - There was no hope with Hal because it had no feelings or emotion....completely cold and calculating.

    6. Auric Goldfinger (Goldfinger) - "No mister Bond, I expect you to die."

    7. Alex DeLarge (A Clockwork Orange) - Not big on the movie but damn if this guy wasnt evil.

    8. Jack Torrence (The Shining) - His gradual slip into insanity is something to behold

    9. Keyser Soze (The Usual Suspects) - Never seen, always felt.

    10. Michael Myers (Halloween) - Always pursuing, ever relentless, killing machine.

Just missed the cut : Anton Ciguhr (No Country for Old Men), Clarence Boddicker (Robocop), and John Doe (Seven).

NOTE: In the spirit of the people on the lists....No Rules.

i've never hated someone in a movie as much as Percy Wetmore in The Green Mile. so he'll be at the top of my list.

Yeah thats a solid choice, I too hated his guts......another one (even though he's not a villian) is Pvt. Timothy Upham, the skinny translater guy from Saving Private Ryan. God I hated him so much.

Biff, let's be honest, Back To The Future 1-3 were sensational because Marty had an excellent adversary. The fact that the actor was able to deliver multiple versions of the same a-hole really was/is one of the great unrecognized achievements in modern film. I am drop dead serious when I say Wilson deserved an Academy award nomination, but Hollywood was still reluctant to give sci fi any love back then, Aliens being a huge exception.

While I give the nod to Wilson due to his overall performance in the trilogy, I single out The Kurgan as the most impressive single film performance. :)

I always thought the Joker was the good guy in Batman. Burning the money, foiling the planner's plans, turning Harvey Dent moral ("The only morality in a cruel world is chance. Unbiased. Unpredjudiced. Fair."), introducing a bit of anarchy, and so on.

Over-sight on my part but I did consider Nurse Ratched (One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest) and Annie Wilkes (Misery). But hey its all a matter of opinion.

When I first saw The Cowboys I hated Bruce Dern's character and I've never been able to look at him or watch his other stuff without thinking of this role:
