If you all remember i made a thread 3 months ago on Old Rock I had about 50 songs then, now I am up to 230 thanks to ya'll. I wanted to know what you would consider your top 10 bands of all time. Right now I can only think of my top 5, the rest are a little iffy for me, I'll post mine later. So what are yours?

The Clash, The Beatles, The Pixies, The Kinks, Devo, The Judys, Joy Division, New Order, Elvis Costello and The Attractions, The Smiths.

This was hasty, and I'm sure if I made it a different day some different bands would appear on it.

I can't believe not more people are mentioning the Clash. They've had multiple extraordinary albums at least two of which could be considered revolutionary.

I didn't include solo artists because they aren't groups. My list would change if solo artists were allowed.

Do you mean like Dave Matthews Band? Jemi Hendrix? or someone like Beyonce who just sings.

I don't know what FB means, but for me, Ozzy, Jimi, SRV, and (even though I don't care for him, his band, or his music) Dave Matthews, while given solo credit or whatever, are every bit as much of a 'band' as any other band, and deserve mention and credit as such.

Although I typically like her music, Beyonce is a solo artist in a different category of other 'solo' artists such as Ozzy, Jimi, SRV, etc.

Dave Mathews Band would be a band in my opinion. But David Bowie would definitely make the list. Hendrix might make the list, so might Bob Dylan, Woodie Guthrie, Johnny Cash, Ray Charles, Hank Williams Sr.

    Zeppelin
    Beatles
    Police
    U2
    Pink Floyd
    Aerosmith
    GNR
    Dave Matthews Band
    AC/DC
    Foo Fighters

My personal top 10. Not bothering with ones I don't enjoy like the Eagles or Stones.

The Jimmy Hendrix Experience is a band. As far as most of the others I don't see a regular artistic collaboration with the same group of people that would constitute a band.

I wasn't trying to say I was correct and others were incorrect for their list. I just thought more people thought highly of the Clash than they do. Though your post was funny and I would include at least one band from your list in my top 10 if I were making it over.

So who do you consider a solo artist? If you want to put solo artists in your top 10, go ahead.
