Watching Yao Ming carry the flag for China I feel a little selfish and a**holish for wanting him to quit the Chinese National Team.

Politics are (mostly) set aside for the next few weeks. Let the athletes compete...

Me too. I was really happy to see Yao and proud for him. We're lucky he plays for our team.

Whose selfish is it? And how do you own a selfish? I'm quite confused.
Yeah yeah, I get that you caught it, but it's still REALLY bad.

I wish yao to quit his national team after the olympics.Furher more,i want morey to buy out yao's present contract and sign him with LLE.As we all know ,yao's salary is 15m per year and makes another 16m as ad rewards. Then his total income per year should be 31m.however,his real yearly income is incredibly 2m only.Actually he earns more than most of us ,man, but isn't it unfair for a superstar to get as much money as a bottom bench roster aquires?Where has yao's money gone ,the answer is so evident that i don't want to mention it again. The truth is truth is always truth. No matter how much les gives yao, most of the money he gives yao will be robbed of by yao's former club. Yao contributes more than 15m dollars for his country ,which moves even the God.Yao deserves more money than 2m.After being bought, yao will sign a LLE with the rockets and will get the money back from les after he retires as coach's salary. And rockets will also be able to clear some room to sign more good rosters and help les avoid the tax.

Before Reagan, the upper tax bracket was 70 percent.

Giving half your money away to the government applies to the freedom loving west too.

Agree with OP. But this was in his home country and their best chance to overtake us in atleast medal count (heard about plan 119 last night), so it should be his last. I don't see him competing in London. If he does quit he can rest up for his first summer since joining us.

You're an idiot. Some players forget that they make a promise to their club and put the glory of their country in front. Last time I checked we're paying him money to play at his 100%. If a player plays at 85% because of drugs or alcohol or their social life we'd all be calling for his head, his cut from the team would be eminent. When a player is at 85% because of his country its suddenly a noble thing. The olympics are just a set of games, a contract however, is a promise to millions of fans, a team of players and an owner. Club or country, I choose club.

i take it you have never been at a level... played or done a sport before... where you could have made the Olympics...

these people are playing not for the club who happens to draft, trade or offer the highest money...

but for love of country and sport...

"let me win, and if I cannot... let me be brave in the attempt"

I watched my friends and people I knew make it, and go to the Olympics.....

It was one of the worst moments of my life not to make it...

I bet most people if they got the chance to go and compete... would...
