The talking heads announced theirs, let's pick ours. I'll tally the votes later. I'll go first: Most Valuable Player: Kevin Garnett Coach of the Year: Rick Adelman Defensive Player of the Year: Kevin Garnett Co-Rookies of the Year: Luis Scola and Al Horford (yeah that's bit of a punt) Sixth Man of the Year: Manu Ginobli Most Improved Player: Hedo Turkoglu
Who I think should win: MVP: Paul ROY: Horford COY: Cheeks DPOY: Battier 6th Man: David Lee MIP: Hedo Turkoglu
MVP: Chris Paul ROY: I really think Luis deserves it but I will be happy if it goes to Durant. COY: Hopefully Aldeman but knowing the NBA it will go to Byron Scott MIP: Hedo Turkogulu 6th Man: Manu Ginoboli DPOY: Shane Battier
Most Valuable Player: Kobe Bryant (I think he's the best player in the game, his team is #1 in the West, and he didn't miss a single game) Coach of the Year: Rick Adelman (I think winning with major injuries takes a great coach, and winning 22 in a row with major injuries --and 3 rookies-- takes the best coach) Defensive Player of the Year: Kevin Garnett (he is the most versatile defender in the game, and he's brought an intensity to the Boston Celtics that vaulted them to #1 in defense) Rookie of the Year: Kevin Durant (he has work to do, but no other rookie was given the keys to the bus like he was. I would argue Scola if he had started from the get go) Sixth Man of the Year: Manu Ginobili (this is a no-brainer to me) Most Improved Player: Chris Paul (aside from his rebounding, every single stat is better this year AND he's taken a huge step in truly becoming the leader of a top tier Western Conference team. He went from "a really good second year PG" to possibly the best PG in the game)
MVP: Chris Paul (LeBron second, Garnett third) COY: Rick Adelman (Byron Scott close, really close second) ROY: Kevin Durant (He won me over with his clutch win against Denver - Scola a close second) MIP: Rajon Rondo (Turkeyglue a close second) 6th Man: Manu Ginoboli (it pains me, because he's a starter in a reserver role, but whatever) DPOY: Shane Battier (Garnett second) GM: Mitch Kupchak (again pains me but he stole Gasol, or was given Gasol.. whatever!)
Most Valuable Player: Kobe Bryant Coach of the Year: Byron Scott Defensive Player of the Year: Shane Battier Rookie of the Year: Al Horford Sixth Man of the Year: Manu Ginobli Most Improved Player: Rafer Alston Best Clutch Poster: Weslinder (from Frostycd1)
Most Valuable Player: Chris Paul Coach of the Year: Rick Adelman Defensive Player of the Year: Shane Battier Rookie of the Year: Kevin Durant Sixth Man of the Year: Leandro Barbosa Most Improved Player: Rajon Rondo
Most Valuable Player: Kobe Bryant Defensive Player of the Year: Shane Battier Rookie of the Year: Jamario Moon Sixth Man of the Year: Manu Ginobili Most Improved Player: LaMarcus Aldridge Coach of the Year: Maurice Cheeks
Most Valuable Player: Kobe Bryant Defensive Player of the Year: Kevin Garnett Rookie of the Year: Kevin Durant Sixth Man of the Year: Manu Ginobili Most Improved Player: TurkyGlue Coach of the Year: Rick Adelman
i am quoting this post because reasoning was given. to me - mvp - kobe. see above. and cp3 is not worth it. coy - this is a doomed award. i agree it should be adelman (see above reasoning). but since whoever wins the coy often gets tossed afterwards in recent history, i'd give this award to sloan. sloan probably should've won one some long time ago; and if he wins this year he might be tossed out of utah next year and that is awesome for us. dpoy - kg. see above. roy - scola. scola is not really a newbie, but he technically is a rookie in the nba. the other candidates just haven't helped their teams enough and not nearly as much as scola has. (i could be wrong, but durant to me is nothing special. too early to have gotten out of ut imo.) 6th man - manu. no brainer. it might not be fair, but a no brainer nonetheless. mip - i don't care. anyone is fine. d. howard? hedo?
Most Valuable Player: Kobe Bryant - 1st in the Western Conference, considered by many the best player and the best all-around player.. he has great statistics, had to deal with a lot of injuries to himself[still managed to play all 82games] and his teammates, and separated himself from Chris Paul by winning not only against them but also destroying the Spurs on his home floor.[while Chris Paul lost back to back against the Lakers and a Kings team with no Kevin Martin/Brad Miller] Coach of the Year: Byron Scott Defensive Player of the Year: Kevin Garnett Rookie of the Year: Kevin Durant 6th of the Year: Manu Ginobili Most Improved Player: Chris Paul
MVP--Kobe Bryant COY--Rick A DPOY--Josh Smith Most Improved--Mike Dunleavy Jr Sixth Man--Manu--Which is stupid
Most Valuable Player: Kobe Bryant Defensive Player of the Year: Kevin Garnett Rookie of the Year: Kevin Durant Sixth Man of the Year: Manu Ginobili Most Improved Player: LaMarcus Aldridge Coach of the Year: Rick Adelman
Most Valuable Player: Chris Paul Coach of the Year: Rick Adelman Defensive Player of the Year: Shane Battier Co-Rookies of the Year: Al Horford (a beast, who is also in the playoffs) Sixth Man of the Year: Kyle Korver Most Improved Player: Mike Dunleavy Jr. Even though I KNOW Ginobili is going to receive all the credit for Sixth Man of the Year, Kyle Korver was traded to the Jazz and relinquished a lot of the pressure on Williams and Boozer. Although you guys may hate on me for this, he made a humongous difference in the Jazz's chance at getting such a high seed in the playoffs.
MVP - Chris Paul...did more with less than anyone. ROY - Durant...yes, Luis contributed to a winning team, but Durant was the best rookie by far COY - Rick Adleman - not sure how it would be anyone else. 6th Man - Ginobili...kind of a big duh. I think they don't start him just so he can win the award. He's their leading scorer. DPOY - Battier - Garnet? He was surrounded by very good defensive players. It's much easier when all you have to do is clog the middle. Battier had to guard the opposing team's best player every night.
Most Valuable Player: Chris Paul Coach of the Year: Reggie Theus Defensive Player of the Year: Battier, Battier guards the best player on the opposing team. KG brings the overall team defense up single handedly. Their intensity is nasty. But I attribute some of that to Tom Thibodeaux so I go with Battier. Rookie of the Year: Al Horford Sixth Man of the Year: Manu Ginobli Most Improved Player: Mike Dunleavy, I took Dunleavy for bench fodder. Guys like Hedo were already good, we knew that. Guys like Gay and Aldrige are supposed to get better, its the nature of getting past your rookie year.
MVP - Kobe Bryant ROY - Kevin Durant DPOY - Shane Battier SMOY - Manu Ginobili MIP - Hedu Turkoglu COY - Rick Adelman
