Where are you in your family's birth order? What were the advantages/disadvantages of such and how has it affected your personality/development if you are aware of anything? Ramble on...
Youngest child by 15 years, so with both older sisters out of the house by the time I was 7, I was effectively raised as an only child.
same here...had older brother and sister, but closest to me was 10 years out. they were gone by the time i was 8, but i have some emotional balking at the notion i was an only child, because my family has always been very close. there was certainly no competition among them and me, though. i was very clearly the youngest.
first of 2 children. i am male, the other female...and the age difference is 6 years. as a result of the age difference, we don't fight as much as most other siblings do.
Only child. Hopefully I'm not screwed for life , but it probably has made me a little more spoiled and/or self-centered. Not to mention that I had to learn the hard way how to get along with other kids. I'm sure I had a good deal because my parents were able to devote all their resources to me, but it would have been nice to have someone to share the growing-up experience with. Not to mention someone else to be a close family member throughout our lives.
Oldest of four. That's right. I'm the Big Brother of three other's. I'm 33. Kid brother is 31-Trader at Conoco Kid Sister is 23-Mother of two. Lives in a two story mansion in Kingwood. Baby Brother is 22-goes to Texas Tech.
Only child of my parents, then my mother remarried when I was 7, so I had an older step brother (12 years older than me), who lived with us for a while. Also a Step Sister is the oldest (37) then there is another step brother (35). My mom then had 3 more kids, I guess I'm the first born. Half Sister is 13 Half Brothers are 11 and 9 I don't know what the **** I am.
I'm the oldest of 3 girls, each 3 years apart. My parents kept trying for a boy and just gave up after my youngest sis. I had the strictest rules, but I had the newest clothes and toys.
I am the youngest, have an older bro. Advantages....not to many... disadvantages.....not being able to stay up as late as older bro, not able to spend the night with friends as often ect...just little kid stuff..I think it helped me look ahead, my bro would have experiences and I had a little more grasp on what to do when my turn came.
Holy Sh*t. We're twins. First of 2 children. Check. I'm male, the other female. Check. The age difference is 6 years. Check. That's pretty freaky, especially the age difference.
First born. Sometimes its a burden having to be the "sad clown" when it comes to a younger sibling whom your parents treat like a baby even though he/her has a Master's degree and SHOULD HAVE HIS/HER OWN APARTMENT AT THE AGE OF 24! (and not be living at home off mommy and daddy still! )
Two older sisters Two older step brothers (both jackasses) I'm the baby. The good thing was my Mother was so busy chasing my sisters around that I got away with murder. Actually, I was a good kid while living at home. But I MORE than made up for it (and then some) when I went to college.
Youngest of four, if you can consider 41 "young". My siblings and I have interesting birthdays. My oldest sister and I were born on consecutive days in July, 7 years apart. The younger of my two older sisters and my older brother were born on consecutive days in September, 3 years apart. My parents got away with having two birthday parties a year for 4 children.
