...and why you hate them. I'm gonna go with Leno, the dude is insanely unfunny, the crowd always sucks, and he (or I guess his writers) steals jokes. His musical guests are more consistently good than the other late nighters though. A close second hated would be Kilborn, who was once my favorite, but is now incredibly boring and stale. O'Brien forever.
I like the CBS guys. Kilborn being the best with Letterman followed closely behind. Jimmy Kimmel and Connan are OK. Leno just sucks hard. None of his jokes are funny, unless its a Letterman joke he stole from the week before. He tries to be funny but his jokes suck!
favorite leno. next conan (never got into him until my sister started watching him so much and i watched a few of them). headlines is awesome. leno's monologue (which is pretty much why i watch any of them except for conan who i can watch all show) is the best. triumph the insult comic dog is awesome. conan's interviews are the best.
1. Jon Stewart (Best jokes, just a funny as hell guy) 2. Craig Kilborn (Only person whose celebrity interviews I watch, he's got a good tv personality) 3. Conan (Best skits) 4. Letterman (Making fun of Dr. Phil...enough said!) 5. Leno (The best monologue, the best stand up comedian of them)
I really don't like any of them much. However, I do record Jimmy Kimmel every night and watch it the next day. Why? Because I enjoy watching the train wreck of a show as it collides into impending cancellation. All he can book are reality TV stars and friends from Comedy Central! However last night he was able to get Jennifer Garner. His interview style is not polished at all. It's like taking an average Joe off the street and having him ask questions. He easily offends and creeps out many guests. The idea of a weekly cohost, while seeming like a good idea at first, seems to have failed. Reports say that Kimmell signed a deal with CC pal Adam Corrolla (sp?) to be a cohost one week every month. I guess no one wants to work with him on the show.
I only watch Kimmel on Fridays. Last night he had a 10 year old Little League pitcher throw him BP. He was talking so much trash, I felt bad for the girl since she probably didn't get half his jokes. She ended up striking him out.
Conan is awesome. He was hilarious with Will Farrell last night and Triumph is half the reason the show is great (the star wars ep.2 skit is priceless) As for who I hate, maybe Leno. I agree that he can make up some dumb things but I watched it more when Johnny Carson was there. Kimmel, is ok i guess. He needs to relax a bit more and remember that he isnt on the Man Show.
Leno is dreadful. I cannot figure out how he still has a job. Letterman rocks. The guy from Insomniac is hysterical also.
Bill Maher sucks. He sucked on Politically Incorrect and he sucks on Real Time or whatever his new show is called. I like how he gives time to stand up comics like Sarah Silverman, who was great, but watching him is like watching glynch host a show.
Kimmel was hilarious when Snoop Dogg was on the show. Other than that, it's "okay". I never really make it a point to watch any of these shows, but I probably have to agree that Conan is the funniest. I've never really liked Letterman, but if we are throwing O'Reilly in there, he might as well be among the worst.
Letterman is the late night God. Been watching his show since '84. I was 14 and completely addicted to it. I really did not know sh*t could be that funny. That was back when there was Chris Elliot as the "Man under the Seats", Larry Bud Melman, Kenny the Garner, the NBC Bookmobile, Leno as a frequent stand-up commedian (he owes a lot to Dave), and there were no Friday night shows. I thought Leno was the funniest guy when he would come on Letterman back then. But now, ugh... Anyone watching the old Letterman shows on Trio? The Trio channel kicks butt. The epsiode with the Foo-Fighters after his surgery was awesome. And the way Dave handled 9/11 on his show was just incredible. Dave sometimes seems to be getting old and cranky, but I can't imagine the world with out the Late (Night) Show. (even though now I'm usually asleep by then) Leno sucks for the obvious reasons. It just hurts to watch that show.
meowgi, i'm with you, and yes, i watch the trio reruns. my childhood (and now) celebrity idols are a short list of 2: David Letterman, and Hakeem Olajuwon (you can imagine my excitement when "The Gentle Giant" was on Dave). My opinions on this subject are so strong that I don't feel right even debating the subject. I have a severe problem with people who like Leno and think he is funny. Conan cracks me up, and has seriously gained my respect as his show has progressed (not that my respect is worth a ****). Kilborn makes me sick to my stomach. He is pompous, cocky, and there is no reason that he deserves to have celebrity status. His show has solid writers who know how to cater to his demographic, and that is what is keeping his show afloat. And, I think Kimmel is a funny guy, but it aggravates me that he's competing with the 2nd half of dave, and his show so far is pretty rocky. like i said, this is a subject that gets me too angry to debate, because i truly feel that there is a right and wrong answer to this. to me, it says a ton about somebody's personality if they find leno funny.
I thought politically correct sucked, but I liked his stand up routine from a few years back on HBO. So you've seen his new show? I'm just about to watch it.
Late Night: Good - Jon Stewart Bad - Jay Leno Political Talk Show: Good - Chris Matthews (Think he's fair to both sides) Okay - O'Reilly (I enjoy seeing him work a guest) Bad - Greta Van Sustern (Queen of 20/20 hindsight)
