I got this idea on another site, so I thought I would share it here to rise up the activity on the NBA Dish section. So I'll start...Keep in mind this is entirely your own opinion. All-NBA First Team G: Steve Nash G: Kobe Bryant F: Carmelo Anthony F: LeBron James C: Tim Duncan All-NBA Second Team G: Chris Paul G: Dwyane Wade F: Kevin Durant F: Dirk Nowitzki C: Dwight Howard All-NBA Third Team G: Rajon Rondo G: Deron Williams F: Josh Smith F: Chris Bosh C: David Lee Honorable Mentions: Brandon Roy, Joe Johnson, Andrew Bynum, Monta Ellis, Chris Kaman, etc.
If I could I would probably leave out Nash for Carmelo in my first team but they tend to like to keep them to position. So. 1st Team Nash Kobe Lebron Dirk Duncan 2nd Team Williams Wade Carmelo Durant Howard 3rd Team Paul Joe Johnson Pierce Bosh Kaman
Just thought I'd mention I'd think he'd be lucky alone getting into the All-Star game. I was considering making an All-Defensive team, but since defenses are so bad now-a-days it's hard for me to find players worthy of it outside of having good reputations.
That shows how great he is that don't even have to put his name on the list in effort to show that he is a great player. If they put Ariza on that list, it would him being equal to those players, when in reality he is superior to them all with only using one hand in a game. He prefers to remain streaky...a poorly shooting forward with poor handles and average defense to keep the order of league in balance. Do you know what that could mean to the NBA, if Ariza became its top star overnight . . .
I know how u feel about howard wemissdeke, bizzlerocket, and whatever else u want to call yourself, but on the 1st team its 2 guards,2 forwards, and a center. Duncan is the forward and howard is a center. Howard is the 1st team all nba center again and duncan is the forward.
Actually, Duncan is listed as a center now. He was listed as a center on the All-Defensive Second team last season. I don't know how it could change just like that. Basically he's a F/C. Forgot about him for a sec, I think it will come down to him keeping his run at the end of the season. But again, I am talking about now. I just think Josh Smith has been so key for the Atlanta Hawks success so far that he should be at the least be named All-NBA Third Team.
He's never listed as a center. Not in all star games never. He's been in the league since 97 and has always been listed as a pf
If Duncan is to be considered a forward: 1st PG: Nash SG: Bryant SF: James PF: Duncan C: Howard 2nd PG: Paul SG: Wade SF: Durant PF: Nowitzki C: M Gasol 3rd PG: Williams SG: Roy SF: Anthony PF: Bosh C: Bogut
I'd rather have Duncan as my center than any other player in the league, so he'd still make my first team.
leebigez said Duncan was never officially listed as a center, and he's technically right. Coaches vote for All-Defensive teams and they are free to pencil in whomever they choose at each position. Enough of them happened to choose Duncan at center, and that's why he got in. But on official all-star ballots or when the Spurs put out their active roster before games, Duncan has always been listed as a forward. Official spurs web site roster: http://www.nba.com/spurs/roster/ Duncan is not listed a C-F, he is listed as F. Now it doesn't really matter, and personally if I'm allowed to pick All-NBA and I'm not restricted to go by the "official" positions, I'd probably slot Duncan as my starting center too.
Then who would take the forward spot? Nowitzki or Durant, since they are both on the 2nd team, I'm guessing you would move one of them in the first team and you would move one guy in the third team to the second team and you would pencil in another forward, who would that be? There's a reason why he hasn't replied in this thread since.
That is funny, but ESPN is not official. Go to NBA.com or Spurs.com and look at the listed roster or the official Spurs media guide. Duncan is listed, officialy, as F. Matt Bonner, DeJaun Blair, Antonio McDyess are C-F. Ratliff is C. When the NBA puts out it all-star ballot, Duncan is listed under forward.
