I sat courtside one time..... was a BLAST!

Got autographs of all the Rockets players while they warmed up. Steve and Cat even invited me to hang with them at the Roxy afterwards. Steve offered me a RIDE to the club in his Benz. I wasn't about to say no to that. I asked him if he was going to bring Beyonce, and he said, "Shhhhh not around Cuttino."

Hey you said make up something good. :D

Never at an NBA game (anywhere special) but have been fortunate enough to:

    1. Be sitting on the glass in the corner for the Columbus Blue Jackets first home victory. That was simply awesome!

    2. HAve been in the center ice Nationwide suite for the Blue Jackets for 2 games and 3 games for Huntington Banks as well as numerous game sin the loge boxes.

My experience int he boxes was ok. Free food and beer was great, but too many people there don't care about the game. I would rather pay for my beer and be among the fans than in that setting, usually!!!

Sat pretty much courtside at a Globetrotters game at Disney's Wide world of sports, it was fun.

I got 2nd row tickets to Vince Carter's charity game in Toronto on Aug. 2nd, it should be quite fun. I was there for it last year and it was one of the best exhibitions of pure athletic talent I've ever seen. Carter, Allen, Zo, Finley, Maggette, Jerome Williams, and others were going nuts. Shammond Williams had this sick off the backboard lob for Vince who took off from pretty much the FT line, caught it and windmilled it. Best dunk I've ever seen, period.

I think next year, I'm gonna try getting tickets for those folding chairs with the foo foo people or the friends of the players or whatever they are -- those VIP folks. The rows right behind the broadcasters. I sat on the 2nd row behind the Rockets' bench last year and it was a pretty good spot to see interaction among the players on the bench as well as the broadcasters and coaches interacting with family and friends before the game. I heard Rudy set up lunch or dinner plans with some guy on the front row.

But if you really want to see the game, sitting that low probably isn't the best place. Center court a few rows up is the best place or up in the upper tier of seats. It's the best place to watch plays unfold, especially on fast breaks. But that may be a moot point since our boys don't really fast break... :(

Last summer I sat in those seats right behind Home Plate at Astros Field. A friend of mine got them last minute from his office at the same time I was visiting Houston.

Supposedly they are $200 a seat. Free food (I'm talking about buffet in a restaurant setting-- good stuff) throughout the game.

Once in a lifetime, I suppose.

When I was 19 I used to work the sideline at Oiler games. I sat down on the bench next to Joe Namath one time and turned to wave to all the girls who were leaning over the rail shouting, "Hey Joe! (Look at me)"

I was sitting courtside at a game just last year. Man, it was awesome. Steve had an excellent game, playing 48 minutes without a single turnover. Our perimeter defense was top notch. The opposing guards weren't getting hardly any penetration. When they did manage to get inside, they were denied by Kelvin Cato EVERY time! I mean, the dude was a MONSTER defensively with 10 blocked shots. Cato's footwork was also superb, making the opposing center look foolish with his assortment of drop steps and jump hooks. He was making crisp passes to our guards, who did a great job cutting to the basket. 23 points, 10 boards, 10 blocked shots, and 5 assists? No wonder he got that $42 million contract! And Mo Taylor...man, just call the dude Windex, because he was CLEANING UP on the boards, both offensive and defensive...25 rebounds?!?! That was truly a Rodman-esque performance. And Cuttino...who knew he could see the floor so well? I don't think we'll ever get 15 assists from him again...

Of course, Moochie had the cornrows going instead of the fro, so the night wasn't perfect...

A year ago April, I sat courtside (albeit next to the basket) when the Suns came to Houston. Steve Francis showed his defensive prowess by letting Jason Kidd shoot and hit jumpers all night to the tune of 30 + points.

My brother-in-law Danny got the tickets. We were actually supposed to sit down low, halfcourt area (these were tickets belonging to someone important in the Rox organization). Danny and I sat next to the basket and stayed there: the seatholders were no-shows (typical Rockets "fans!")

Danny knows Bullard, so Bullard came up to shake hands with us. During the game, Bull laughed at us from the bench, seeing how we had scammed onto our seats rather than going to wherever we were supposed to go.

Shandon Anderson came sailing into our seats. I would have preferred a lap dance from one of the Power Dancers, though! ;) Speaking of which, they often shook their thangs right in front of us. I grinned over at Danny, who also laughed ("time for you to get home to my sister, Danny") and I saw, just beyond Danny, a "pack" of dudes staring slack-jawed and bug-eyed at the dancers. Kinda funny to see.

Tskakalidis once blocked Hakeem's shot. Hakeem fell to the floor. Tska barked something at him (Dream had been getting the calls until then, although he was also having a good game).

    I met Coop, too.

Let's see: after the game, with our "backstage" passes, got to meet Carlos Rogers. I saw Steve but didn't get to meet him, he was leaving. Still, a good time.

I've sat courtside behind the basket quite a few times(My uncle, my parents, and one of our friends shared season tickets), but have only sat on the sideline courtside seats twice...Once at a Spurs game and once at a Rockets game. I touched the game ball both games. At the Spurs game, the ref gave me the ball during a time out, and at the Rockets game, the ball flew out of bounds.

Naw, real fans don't sit courtside. I sit 20-25 rows up where the real rowdy fans who care about the team are sitting. All that happens when your courtside, (My uncle had 2nd row from the court seats for the spurs once or twice for a few seasons) and all that happens is you end up watching what "yourself" is doing. People have binoculars on you the whole game, so you basically keep in check with your self image while sitting courtside and forgetting about the cussing and disrespect the players are showing the officials that you can blindy hear sitting 10 ft. away.

    I don't need that.

I've been in the midcourt luxury box at The Summit/Compaq Center many times. For you oldtimers from the 70's and 80's, it was the one with all the mirrored walls and very bright lights on the ceiling. Disco chic run amok.

Worst place you'd ever watch a basketball game from. The players looked like ants.

This season when we played the Knicks in New York I sat in my dad's company's luxury box. It was really nice, but it was up really high.

My luxury box experience was pretty sh!tty! :(

I think it was 2 years ago, Rockets vs. Mavs, in which Walt My Hero Williams punched in Shawn Stickman Bradley's face and both got ejected. :D And yeah, the Rockets won! Well, that was about the only good thing that happened.

I got the ticket for this departmental "outing" of my company. Before the game I asked my colleagues about the Rockets, and no one seemed interested. Then I figured they all went there because it was a company thing ...

OK! I'll admit I was a total rookie as far as luxury box goes ... I went in the Compaq Center and was clueless about where I should go. Then I showed one of the ushers my $575 (don't remember the exact value!) ticket and he showed me the way to the elavator.

Got up there ... finally found my "box". And damn those big rich corporations! 2 long benches of food and drinks ... jumbo shrimps, buffa wings, ... the fridge was full of beer and champaigns ... DAYAM!

Obviously people were chatting like businessmen before the game. Things didn't change after the game started. It was my first job and I didn't give a f**k about the businessmen ****! I was alone looking down to the court for some game actions. Honestly speaking, distance-wise the luxury box sucks! Anyway, I was ignoring the crowd in the room and screaming hard as usual, several times almost shouting the f-word. Then there was my boss tapping my shoulder and said, "Hey! Boy, Don't jump!" Poor me earned a room full of laughters.

So, unless Clutch or Jeff or some BBS'ers proposes to organize a luxury box gathering, I would never go there again. They are a bunch of dead people. Go back to the damn office and talk about the damn business! Wonder why the Summit is so dead quiet? Ask them!

I sat in the seats right behind courtside once, and right behind the benches once...BOTH times Steve was hurt and didn't play.
When I was behind courtside, CD greeted me, and Calvin Murphy was talking to some fella 5 or 6 seats down in my row. That was the last game of the season. No Steve, No Cuttino...on fan appreciation day. Its funny b/c they walked by in Steet clothes and looked perfectly healthy. They were laughing and joking around with everyone. Yeah, real cool...
