I'm just curious what your longest solo drive without stopping is.

I just finished Harrisonburg, VA to Spring, TX. It was about 1330 miles and took me a hair under 20 hours. I didn't intend to drive through, but got just north of New Orleans in good time and decided to keep going.

The longest nonstop drive I did though was in 1996 -- in driving from Utah to Boston the last day I went 24+ hours. I thought I was dead by the time I arrived, but the ONLY reason I drove through was because Sportscenter would replay from like 7am to 9am, and the Rockets had just finished the series win over Magic Johnson and the Lakers. Back then you would never see highlights after the replays the next morning... so you can see how ESPN News, Tivo, and Rockets2K have saved many lives on the road :)

Pagosa springs, Colorado to Austin overnight ~ the last 4-5 hours were pretty brutal.

You got me beat. I did Sunnyvale TX to Western Wyoming non-stop, and I did all of the driving, but I had my wife with me.

I also did Pearland to Richmond Virginia (by way of Dallas) last year, took delivery of a boat that was over thirty feet from the tongue of the trailer to the tip of the prop, and hauled it back to Pearland (again, through Dallas) all in a three day weekend. My brother in law from Dallas helped with some of the driving though. Still, hauling a big ass boat through the mountains and the storms is NOT fun.

Around 12 hours. I don't risk driving any longer than that. Grogginess on the highway kills.

    Miami to Houston

    23 hours straight.

Drove straight to Emos and had a beer before I went home!

Back in '93 I did Greensboro, NC to Spring in just under 24 hours. The stretch from Beaumont home was a nightmare, but at that point why stop in Beaumont?

I do Frederick, MD to Slidell, LA about twice a year.

    Hey, Clutch! Where in Spring?

I did the 20+ hour trips in college, but that was with friends.

My longest solo trip was, this last weekend, actually. Houston to Memphis. Decided to go the Louisiana-Mississippi route. Took me freaking 12 hours and 750 miles. I'll never go that way again.

I've sometimes fantasized about driving... solo... back to Valdez, AK.

    Total Distance: 4260.8 Miles
Estimated Total Time: 64 hours, 36 minutes

Why do you ask? Think you could beat that? :p

St. Louis->Tallahasse, Florida -> Houston. According to yahoo maps, it's just under 1500 miles. I don't count Tallahassee as a stop because I was out of my car for litterally 10 minutes to drop off some boxes for a friend.

Almost two days, no sleep, except for a 30 minute "nap" at a rest stop in Lousiana, and another 30 minute nap at another rest stop in Mississippi.

    Dumbest thing I've ever done.

    Solo?

Probably no more than 100 miles!

I've driven San Francisco to Vancouver (about 17 hours including stops) a couple of times though. Usually leaving San Fran about noon on Sunday, having to be back at work Monday morning.

Why am I never rested after a vacation?

    Austin to Albuquerque.

I did Waco to W. Palm Beach, but that was with someone. I also did Katy to Santa Cruz, but that was with hotel stops.

In April a girl I knew offered to fly into Houston from New Orleans if I'd drive from Austin to pick her up then drive her home to New Orleans after we were done spending time in Ausin. Yeah... I did it. 3 hours to Houston, 3 hours back, 3 hours back to Houston, 5 hours to New Orleans, 5 hours back, 3 back to Austin, for a grand total of 22 hours. No sex is worth that. Unless youre Scott Stapp. New Orleans was a fun time though. I'd never been.

    Greensboro? That's where I live.

My greatest solo effort was from Houston to Nashville about five years ago-- 14 hours maybe?

El Paso to Atlanta. The funny thing is that El Paso is farther from Houston than Atlanta is. Took about 24 hours.
