If you could create a morning show what would it be like? Break it down in percentages. ex 50% sports talk 30% news 20% entertainment and guests My example is for a sports radio show but feel free to create your own. Be as descriptive as you'd like, I'm interested in the all opinions.
50% Sports (no hockey or baseball; soccer only during World Cup/EPL Championships) 10% News (local and global) 15% Entertainment 25% Independent/Up-and-Coming Music (and related news)
90% laura reynolds having an orgasm while doing the traffic report, again 10% sports ALso, it would be forbidden to speak golf or home improvent on my show.
If I was a station GM. Wait a minute, AB are you going to start a fifth Sports Talk Radio/Comedy station? Unless the Voice and the Heisman are moving to another timeslot. ok, but my morning show would consist of two LOCAL guys, who have grown up in Houston. There will be no golf hour EVAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR, (except maybe on saturday mornings at 5am right after the fishin' and huntin' show). 64 Percent sports 20 Pop Culture/entertainment 16 Guest involvement
40% rock and roll music 5% audio clips from comedians/Monty Python 5% hot-sounding chicks talking dirty 5% cool web site articles to check out 20% misc. strange-but-interesting facts 5% word of the day 20% Houston Rockets in-depth discussion/interviews
It would all depend on who the hosts were and in what language. I usually listen to 'Piolin por la Manana' on 106.5 all morning. And they are about 90% funny 5% news and guests 5% sports that i dont care about.. such as soccer.
He's not as good as he used to be. Does he even take any calls at all now? At least they moved him to where he is live now on 950. The best show out there now is Mancow, imo. It's on 950 right now. He gets a lot of guests and keeps the show moving at a crazy pace. The problem with most of these shows is they are too slow for my tastes. I like some shows with some production value and most of the hosts around here seem to lazy to do anything other than take calls from lame callers. Why don't they play more sound clips from interviews? The only time you hear them are the short clips in the sports flash or whatever. Most of the sports talk shows here are to cut and dry. A radio version of the hangout would be the ideal.

It's horrible. I'm so glad that I have satellite radio iso that I can listen to music and not a bunch of babbling, cackling idiots.
65% long commercials for crap like window and AC installation services 5% Dallas Cowboys 5% Dallas Mavericks 5% Utah Jazz 5% soccer 5% boxing 5% NHL 5% Barry Bonds/Kobe talk Oh wait, never mind. This is my ideal morning show from hell.
I listen to the podcasts, not the radio. That way I can skip through all the political nonsense and get right to the bits. He still does about 3 short bits per show. He takes "calls" but they are really just him doing other voices, which to me is funnier than real callers. All the favorites are still there ~ Bud Dickman, Bobby Dooley, Ted Bell, Lloyd Bonifide, and my personal favorite - Herb Sewell.
I had the misfortune of hearing "the mexicans" one morning. I already hated morning radio shows, but that show was a whole new level of awful. Radio sucks. Morning radio shows suck even more.
