I really don't get many gifts anymore, I just give them (and pay for them!). I got a great new knife from my mom and dad, a toaster oven from the father in law, a mixer/blender from the mom in law, and some some trinket-like yet extremely thoughtful stuff from my kids. A wonderful Christmas indeed!

    wow, RM95 got a nice haul. :)

let's see... a CD, three sweatshirts/sweaters, earrings, an electric quilt, a paper shredder, a calendar. A stocking full of little things like hot chocolate mix and socks. Nothing else... we have a small family... but we're all taking ourselves to Florida after New Year's, which we probably should not be spending the money on. That should count as the real present.

That's great! I went to my first Midnight Mass last night and it was wonderful. Becoming a Catholic may not be all that bad. :)

Also, we went to Second City's Letters to Santa 24-hour benefit improv show last Tuesday where the proceeds from raffle tickets, admission price and drinks/food went to help needy kids across Chicagoland. Next year I'm flying back up here and will stay for the entire 24 hours. It's a great cause and we got to see some great comedy (the Sonic guys were there...they're hilarious); wonderful acoustic performances from Jeff Tweedy, Billy Corgan and others; and a funny Q&A with renowned record producer Steve Albini. I highly recommend it to anyone in the area.

My first xmas in NYC. My uncle is the CEO of St Vincent's hospitals so the Cardinal gave us tickets to midnight mass at St Patrick's Cathedral. It was pretty amazing. Walking there past the Rockefeller Center cheeseballfest was actually fun. People taking pics, ice skating, a steel drum band playing carols, Spongebob and The Grinch dancing to raise money....it was quite overwhelming.

Walked home in the cold and we opened all our gifts at 2:30am.

I got mostly gift cards for Circuit City, I told everyone I wanted to buy a plasma or LCD TV in week or so. I also got a bunch of clothes and some cufflinks. And some cash which I will turn into Return of the King Extended Edition tomorrow.

I didn't get my Official Red Ryder Carbine-Action Two-Hundred-Shot Range Model Air Rifle....
    :(

My parents broke our "no gifts" pact for yet ANOTHER year and gave my sister and I a buttload of cash (even though we're both grown adults with our own careers)

oh parents... ya gotta love them for caring so much and BREAKING THE RULES!!! :)

Well considering that tomorrow is my grandmother's memorial service (my mom's mom), the mood around the Manny Ramirez household was not one of gift giving.

Nonetheless, I did get "Circle in the Round" by Miles Davis (from my sister and her husband) and $100 bucks from my parents.

I got my sister the Franz Ferdinand CD and my brother-in-law a book on Native Americans. I will be taking my parents out to dinner sometime next week. Other than that and getting 2 $20 gift certificates to 2 co-workers, that was all the gift giving and gift receiving for this Christmas.

And that was fine by me as I have some cash coming in, anyway, which will lead me to buy more things that I do not really need (e.g. CDs) instead of the things I need (like clothes and new tennis shoes).
