    Hey Clutchfans brethren,

I’m heading back to Houston for a week at the end of June to see the family. I’ve been living in Peru for a while now, and while the food scene here is incredible, I’ve been seriously missing some good Vietnamese, Malaysian, Thai, and Filipino dishes — stuff that’s just hard to come by down here.

I’d love your recommendations for your favorite gems in these categories to help scratch that itch. I’m not into fine dining — I value flavor and authenticity over ambiance or presentation. Dives are totally cool with me, as long as the food is bangin’.

If you know of any spots doing fresh or creative fusion, I’d be down to try those too. Thanks so much in advance for the help!

Street to Kitchen is my favorite Thai spot. They've gotten a lot more popular since they won the James Beard award, but they still been kicking out great dishes. I miss the hole in the wall place they were at when they first opened during the pandemic, but their new place is super nice and much more spacious.

Just drive down Bellaire and pick a spot. Not so many Thai and Filipno joints(but theres some), but all the Chinese and Vietnamese you can handle. There is a Filipino grocery store close by in Sugar Land that has a deli /a la cart Filipino food court called Seafood City Supermarket.

V Lotus in Sugarland one of the best kept secrets around. This restaurant should be famous!

I would go weekly but my wife hates "foreign" food. The pho is my go to item but everything on the specialty menu is great.

Overall, I actually like Thai food more than Vietnamese and wish there was a Thai restaurant in the area that was on the same level.
