This summer, the rockets have signed free agent Brad Miller, resigned Scola & Lowry. And, Yao will return.

What's your expectation for the rockets in 2010-11 season? Making finals or missing the playoffs again, or ...?

I can see us as a forsure Playoff team if our players can stay some what healthy. I don't think that we have everything we need to be a Championship contender just yet. The Rockets still have some moves to be made and some scrubs to cut loose. It should be an interesting season.

I expect the Rockets to at least go to WC finals but I expect this guy to blow up. I heard of great white hype butthis is not hype this gy could be what people thought Keith Van Horn was going to be!

You forgot drafting Patrick Patterson. Although the offseason appears seemingly inactive, I expect individual players on our team (Budinger, Hill, Taylor, Martin, Ariza) to improve their game significantly after having one year of getting used to the Rockets system.

I hope Yao can at least make it to the All Star break before suffering his season-ending-injury. Maybe then we can limp into the playoffs and win a few games.

Im hoping for the best and for him to come back healthy.. with him we're a wcf team, top five in the league IMO. But man, its almost a given that somethings going to happen to the poor guy. Although from the clips Ive seen, he looks healthy.. but he always looks healthy before hes on the ground grabbing his knee. Poor guy, hopefully we manage the situation correctly and this year he starts all 82! This current team, healthy, has potential to go faarrrr.. lets get it done. ;)

I expect them to at least make it to the WCF if Yao stays healthy. Honestly I don't see anyone in the west can match up against our roster for 48 minutes except the Lakers. However in case significant injury occurs to the big fellow I don't know... might get beaten by the Nuggets or the Spurs.

Nba finals or bust! Nah but seriously I do expect great things from this team. I think we can get past the 1st round without Yao, imagine what we can do with him! If Yao is healthy and thats a big IF, we can be lethal. I say at LEAST WC finals.

Assuming Yao is only at 40% and no further trades, Rockets will barely miss the playoff again.

as long as Yao stays healthy playing minimal minutes, 15-50, and save his full stregth for the playoffs, we can win it all. ;)

We should allow for two polls since the answer hinges on Yao's health. Without Yao healthy, I believe we will most likely be one and done; another first round exit. With Yao healthy and useful, I believe we can make it to the WCF. Like seriously, our biggest competition would be Lakers, Mavericks, and Jazz. Things we should probably look to accomplish would be:

    - Avoid teams like Lakers and Jazz as they are bad match-ups for us. Lakers can beat us down with size for the most part if Yao goes down. Let's face it, none of our bigs can really defend theirs. Jazz and their PnR play will destroy our flatfooted starting bigs. Not to mention, while the loss of Boozer stings, he was never that great of a playoff presence and with the addition of Big Al and Millsap taking over the front court, they look to be a much more dangerous team.

    - Recover our defensive identity. While the big drop off in defense last year can be mostly attributed to Yao's absence and therefore the severe absence of a shot blocking presence (lets face it, a 6'6 Chuck Hayes is scaring no one), it is not entirely responsible. Our defense has been consistently slipping year after year.

    - Pickup another wing to play behind Kevin Martin. Currently, our only true SG after Martin would be JT and as much as he has improved, his presence does not make us deep at the two. Ariza handling the 2 spot was disastrous offensively and defensively, CBud is not fast enough laterally and Battier is yet another year slower. Hopefully we can package off Jeffries and Battier for a decent wing, otherwise prepare to see Batman switching between spots for significant minutes.

    - Finally start playing some motion offense. It has been a few years now and we have only seen flashes of Rick's true motion offense. It is time to finally put it into operation. A motion offense will significantly help out our slower bigs as ball movement will keep the defense scrambling. Key here is Aaron Brooks. If he can do less ISO and become a better playmaker in the way of Parker or Bibby, our offense should improve significantly. It is a fact that a sharp and accurate pass will travel faster than a player can run.

    - Teach Jeffries how to dunk so he can contribute on offense. A dunk is way easier to make and much harder to block than a layup. I am sick of seeing Jeffries attempt and blow wide open layup attempts. He is 6'11 and needs to dunk that ****.

These are just some of my opinions! XD

I expect we'll make the playoffs, and that's it. There's just too much uncertainty at this stage to expect a first round exit or first round win.

we'll make it to the 2nd round of the playoffs for sure.

I still think we're a year away from full blown greatness. This team needs to get some chemistry down first with all the new additions.

Without any major injuries, the rockets will pass to the 2nd round and maybe to the WCF.

I think passing the First round is the minimum .. But almost everybody's is making their expectation Yao is gonna be back 100% playing 82 games ..
Even without Yao this team could easily make the playoffs ..

As long as Yao is healthy for the playoffs (as well as every other player), we will make it past the first round. Well, if we have to play LA in the first round, maybe not, but I see us going far this year. I think only LA and Dallas will give us problems, but in a 7 game series, I think we can beat both.

I voted for passing the 1st round, but I really believe we can make it to the WCF, at minimum.

Really looking forward to this year.

Over the past few years, I've watched 90% of the Rockets games. I'll admit, last season I maybe watched 1/4, but that was more due to my schedule than our lack of Yao/Tracy. I plan on watching every game this season.
