    My pick:

    OKC Thunder

    Why?

Harden is going to have a huge impact on that team, IMO. Plus, they all have excellent work ethic.

    I'm guessing they go 41-41.

LOL 41-41??? Maybe in the East, and that's a HUGE maybe. A better darkhorse would be the Wiz

Granting the Amare trade happens for the Warriors, I would say the Warriors. Having Amare added to their line up plus Curry would make this team dangerous. They would have athletic guys in Randolph and Amare in the front court and in the back court shooters in Ellis and Curry. Throw in Maggette and Jackson to the mix and you have a competitive team. Team defense????? :D

Depending on whether or not they resign Bibby or get something equivalent in FA, I think the Hawks have a very good chance to make a splash in the East.

Wasn't the #7 pick supposed to be part of the deal for Amare? In that case, Curry would be going to Phoenix.

I really like Minnesota and I hope they will be able to sign Allen Iverson. They can be really good. I like their chances.

Because they did not get enough draft picks in the draft

Definitely Blazers. They are so young and talented and they are only going to get better. I will not surprised if they end up in the WCF.

    If the favorites are:
SA, LAL, Cle, Orl, Bos (no order)

Than I'd say the darkhorses are:
    Den, Hou, Por, Chi, Mia

Detroit could leap back into contention if they grab Boozer (signed outright) and Ben Gordon (S&T for Rip?). The way they grabbed 3 SFs last night makes it more likely that Prince is going somewhere as well. But I wouldn't be surprised if Dumars rebuilds them incredibly fast this summer. Camby would be a nice fit here as well.

My money is on the Blazers as well... I wouldn't be surprise if they're the top 3 teams in the west...

    Dark Horses, eh?

In the East, I'd say it's almost obviously Washington. They're building quite some talent over there... if only they can get healthy.

In the West, there aren't really any dark horses because there are so many good teams (well, 8 now that Phoenix is rebuilding). It's too hard for a young team to suddenly hop into the race. Even Portland had to wiggle their way in the last few years -- they didn't come from nowhere.

im gonna go w/ the blazers in the west and the wizards in the east

the blazers are stacked w/ young guys and can only get better... brandon roy is one of the most underrated players in the nba, as we saw what he was able to do in the playoffs

wizards are going to be an offensive powerhouse w/ jamison, butler, miller, and arenas (if healthy)... they have a definite possibility to slide into playoff contention in the east

Uh, the Blazers were the 4th seed in the West this year.

Yeah the darkhorse is supposed to come from nowhere, write-ins, unexpected. Its almost safe to say they are playoff locks.

I think the Bobcats will crack the playoffs this year, especially if 76ers cant resign andre and holiday could be a bust.

And for fun, the Kings in the west, Westphal will improve their record by 10 wins.
