Deaf. Just seems much easier to live with.

I think I'd rather be deaf but they say that being deaf is more isolating...

I'm friends with a guy that I used for a show a few years back that has been blind since birth. His West Texas school district fought to allow him to stay with his class instead of going to Austin to the School of the Blind, and he became the first blind student to graduate in his district. He plays music for a living and is proud to say he has never had to have a "real" job. He is the most lively, independent, free spirited guy I ever met. Nothing phases him. If that's being blind, I'm taking that path...

If youv'e ever been to the Fiesta on I-10 @ Blalock and heard a guy playing keyboard there on the weekend, odds are, it's my friend Gary Kneal. Tip him well.

Considering I'm already partially deaf in one ear, I'll choose... deaf. Much easier to live with than being blind. I'll just use CC on my TV. :)

Definitely deaf. You can still surf the net, watch TV and movies (with subtitles) and look at p*rn.

Even the most common things like making a can of soup, lifting weights, going for a run, playing basketball, using the crapper, going snorkelling, etc.., etc.. etc.. can all be enjoyed to the fullest by a deaf person. About the only things a blind person can do that a deaf person can't are listening to music and talking on the phone.

    It's no contest.

Deaf, but since I'd become a millionaire, I'd just repair myself and become normal again.

    Most definitely deaf.

I hired a completely deaf trader for my firm. He is superb. We communicate usually through IM or email, and I've had no problems with any communication with him at all. One of the best hires I've ever made.

Wouldn't being blind eliminate the conciousness of self?

As you get older, you realize most of what people say is Bull****.

Being blind eliminates so much Bull****.

Totally disagree with this statement. People put way too much stock in how people look.

Not really, you can still be self conscious when you are blind or deaf or anything for that matter. The point of the quote is to free yourself of the demon within and then you can be free to do and act freely in accordance to your own wishes and desires. Basically you would be living in the moment, not caring what others might say or think.

Would you rather be blind, but have super senses (Like Daredevil)

Or be deaf but have photographic reflexes like Echo (can replicate and learn anything she sees ie. watch someone juggle and automatically know how to juggle? )

    Echo, totally.

Yeah, I don't think deafness and blindness are at the same level of severity. You can still pretty much live a normal life being deaf.. but being blind really limits you (at least initially, until you learn how to "see" through hearing).

I think a better question might be would you rather be paralyzed or blind.

    I prefer deaf.

I just think I can do more being deaf than being blind.

Plus, I love to read. :)
