we've had religious threads ad nauseum, some more interesting than others. what i would like to know is if any of you have changed your position at all. in other words, do you believe more or less strongly in the existence of "god(s)", or has there been zero change?
1969-1978 atheist, evolutionist 1979-present Christian, believer in God " by the time I was 13 I knew everything.... by the time my first son turned 13 I knew nothing..."
I have had an extremely strong belief in God for a long time. I don't see that changing anytime soon. That is not to say that my belief system matches most others as mine is a collage that I developed as a result of extensive study, soul searching, and (with a nod to Colbert), "feeling" what is right for me.
It waxed and waned from HS through college through early adulthood. Since about the age of 28, I've been comfortable and comforted.
It happens. I've had my own views influenced by some here, your knee-jerk comment not withstanding. In response to the thread? My views on religion have only been affected by the realization that there are some truly open-minded and progressive souls here, that have caused me to respect their religious views more than I might have, in the past. My own personal views on religion haven't changed since I was a teenager. Absent proof to the contrary, I don't believe in religion. However, I respect those who do that aren't extremists about it. D&D. Beliefs in Space.
Born Jewish, raised Jewish, still practice Judaism but now I am more into the culture than I am the religion. My belief in God has been slipping away the older I get. I now see organized religion as more of a source of problems than a way to deal with problems.
for me evolution proved to me there was no gods, at that time I believed man was his own god....that's all, just opinion
I used to believe in the Grizzlies. Now THAT took faith. I now believe in the Rockets. This board has changed me.
I think there is an influence. I check up on sources that some members have given, but since the same topic comes up again and again, it's hard for me to take these threads too seriously. The universe existed long before evolution on earth. I don't think we're the end all in life. Even if Doomsday prophecies are true, it's only the doom for us. In other words, God can have other kids.
Nice quote Not saying you disagree, but its possible to be believe in evolution as well as in God. Evolution is an attempt to explain life through science, observation, knowledge and data, whereas the idea of God is to give meaning to life through faith. The two IMO are not mutually exclusive and should not be viewed/proped as opposing and antaganostic concepts. age 8-15 believed in athiesm, evolution and cartoons age 16-28 believed in agnostic, evolution and anime
I dont believe in religion I do believe there is a God I do NOT believe he sanctions the things done in his name. however, the doctrine of free will means he doesnt interfere. That is what I believe.
I've believed in God pretty much forever, though that belief has gone through a lot of change, and evolution.
No change. If people need an imaginary friend to believe in - good for them. I'd prefer to spend my time on this earth more productively.
