Time for a little dreamcasting from you personnel wonks and capology freaks.

Show me your roster for the 2006-7 Houston Rockets since that seems to be the watershed year.

Project this and next year's draft selection and pick up the Free Agents that you think we could acquire.

    C - Yao
    PF - Rashard Lewis (trade)
    SF - McGrady
    SG - Mobley (free Agent)
    PG - Sura

    Bench

Mutombo (I hope he'll still be around, he's ageless)

And a bunch of draft picks and young guys to carry the bench minutes and become prepared for future starting jobs.

He's going to fill out a little bit 'ala Horry when he went to the Lakers. I think his defense would be fine. And his quickness would present alot of problems for the other PF's in the league to defend him.

and where are your rebounds going to come from? they aren't going to come from yao.
I think yao has proven that he's going to need a strong rebounding power forward next to him.

hell, EG can do a better job at PF than him and alot cheaper, although i need to protect my gf... :D

anyways, people are saying that Yao is getting fouled out this year because he doesnt have a hard nosed PF like he had in Cato last year. Having someone like Shard do the job, is a scary sight to see.

If Rox have two 2nd round picks in the upcoming draft... Aaron Miles(PG), Travis Diener(PG), a center. I'd say draft the two PGs with the two highest picks and try to sign a quality PF in free agency.

    1 James
    2 Sura
    3 Tracy
    4 Juwan
    5 Yao

    6 Draft Pick
    7 Wesley
    8 Barry
    9 Badiane
    10 Draft Pick

    11 Moochie
    12 *
    13 Bowen
    14 Baker
    15 Spoon

Try to trade: Spoon, Baker, Mooch, and Juwan

    Re-sign: Barry and Bowen

Let go: Padgett, Ward, and Barrett.

Deke will either retire or will get a better contract elsewhere.

    PG: Sura / Mike James
SG: Paul Pierce / Francisco Garcia / JJ Redick
    SF: T-Mac / George Lynch
    PF: Donyell Marshall / Howard
    C: Yao / Raef Lafrentz

I think this prediction is both somewhat realistic but still ambitious at the same time. We sign Marshall this offseason when we strike out on Swift because he ends up in New Orleans who opened up a ton of cap room yesterday. I like Donyell more than Shareef, who is basically a younger, slightly better clone of Howard. At least with Marshall he gives a different look with his rebounding, and 3 pt shooting.

We draft Francisco Garcia with our 1st round pick this year. According to a post on this board the rox are already scouting him, and if he can shoot as advertised, he would be a nice versatile addition to the team.

Redick will be our 2nd round pick in 2006. At the very least he should be a great shooter in this league. And having seen how this team can operate if you surround Yao and T-Mac with shooters, this pick is well worth it.

Then I envision Boston as the next team that falters and wants to dump their high salary guys and rebuild. Ainge has already shown that he will be aggressive with his moves, and he is unafraid of pulling the trigger on just about any trade. This would be a basic salary dump, Paul Pierce and Lafrentz for our stack of expiring contracts, and probably a couple of picks thrown in.

George Lynch is a FA in 2006 and we pick him up to round out the roster with a cheap veteran role player.

I'd probably prefer getting a big time PF like Chandler, Wilcox, or Brand but I don't think that will happen. This PP/Lafrentz deal probably won't happen either, but call it a crazy hunch.
