Al Gore was in austin giving his global warming presentation.

YCT, a student group at UT, came out to protest his stance on global warming.

Here is a promotional video from their protest:

    <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/uxQMvru07XQ"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/uxQMvru07XQ" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

GOd, this video makes me so depressed about mankind.

    - i would guess none of these YCT members are scientists, they are just protesting because if al gore supports it, it must be wrong

    - they think al gore lives in a big house soooo obviously anything he says about the environment cant be trusted... right ? right ? right ?

    - they think al gore is just doing this to get rich. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

    - they cherry pick scientists to say global warming doesnt exist.. i can find scientists that say the holocaust doesnt exist or that black people are genetically inferior.. finding a couple scientists that agree with you doesnt mean you are right.

I watched An Inconvenient Truth last night for the first time. Very well presented, though I do wish he would have taken out the part about his political life....that part I thought distracted from the point he's trying to make. Certainly would be distracting to those who he disagrees with politically on other issues...and I'm thinking he's hoping that film bridges those gaps.

I would really like to see his presentation live.

Yes, the anti-war protestors would NEVER be so vindictive..

Again, the anti-war protestors would NEVER stoop to this level.

HAHAHAHAHAHHAH, The anti-war protestors have NEVER accused Bush of starting the war to get rich (Halliburton, oil, etc.)

Right, the anti-war protestors would NEVER do anything like this...

Protesting protecting the environment and protesting wars are not nearly the same thing.

Just because you agree with or disagree with them doesn't change the fact that they all do the same things.

    They're all the same.

more than likely the anti-war group is the same as the pro-environment group. their stance basically boils down to being good stewards of the earth and finding diplomatic and political solutions without war. if they are loud in voicing that stance, how else do you expect them to be heard?

what does the other side stand for fundamentally?

They really are not the same thing at all.

I'm not sure how to word this but i'll try....

War protesters believe they are fighting for a good cause. They believe they are saving lives by doing what they are doing.

People protesting environmental protection don't really have a cause they are fighting for, it is more a group of people ( environmentalists, hippies, liberals ) that they are fighting against.

let's face it, a significant amount of war protesters are protesting because they hate Bush, just like the other side protesting because they don't like Gore.

Most times it has less to do with the actual issues than which side you are on.

Thankfully you have demonstrated that you are not one of "them" with this single pithy observation.

No, but they do both come at costs that some might feel outweigh the presumed benefits.

In my experience, this just isn't the case. People that protest the war hate bush, but they hate him because of the war.

I don't know anybody who hates bush because of something like tax cuts or stem cell research, and then decided to go to a WAR protest even though they don't really feel strongly about the war but because they hate him for other things and might as well protest what he is doing now.

There are a lot of people who hate Bush because of the 2000 election. Did you see all those protestors at his inauguration? They were all along the parade route.

    because he's a democrat.

If the Iraq War was a huge success in less than 3 months, we have record unemployment, same sex marriage was legal, poverty didn't exist in America, and the entire country's populace was incredibly happy with their lives, there would still be a large amount of people who Hate Bush..for no other reason than his party affiliation.

The exact same goes if a Democrat is elected. Some people just can't see beyond party lines.
