I just watched the latest NBA commercial...and it's beautiful as they show all of these classic clips of classic plays and players..old and new...Kobe, Lebron, Barkley, Jordan, Bird, Magic...you know, the usual suspects. And in these types of commercials...I mean EVERY every single one of them that the NBA produces, there is NEVER any clips of Hakeem...neither from the Championship years or ANY other period of his career. Pretty much every champion is represented regularly in these commercials for the last 15 years or so...Shaq, Wade, Duncan/Parker, Kobe, Jordan, etc. etc. No Hakeem. I know he wasn't flashy in a 'me' sense, or controversial, or a media darling / demon, etc. But you know, that move on Ewing in 94 (at least) deserves some play. It just irks me.
He's in here for two seconds. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/sqVFdcgmbJ0&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/sqVFdcgmbJ0&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Thats because Hakeem doesn't stay involved in the NBA. You won't find him doing lots of interviews or at alot of NBA events during or after his career. The NBA wants to promote people who will be in front of the camera. Its good business for them. My guess is Hakeem prefers it this way too.
Barkley just gave kudos to Greg Popovich for having the Spurs in 2nd place with so many team injuries. But what about Adelman? The Rockets are #3 with one of the top 2 players out for half the season. The Rockets get no love...
