a teams decision making ability when
    a) they only need 2 points to tie it, and
    b) the potential game winning 3 pointer is taken by Mo Taylor.

Seriously. I know they didn't have any time outs but a professional basketball team should have a contingency plan that does not include having the worst 3 point shooter on the squad taking an unnecessary shot to win the game.

There I go again, breaking my own golden rule of not posting within 12 hours of a game finishing.

Great effort tonight but frustrating none the less.

Clutch - Its almost like you had the front page headline done before the game was finished. That was fast

****--I could have sworn I saw Mobley in the game during that final play....was I dreaming? I know he went down and everything, but I swear I saw him jump up once or twice because he WANTED the ball.

He probably just didn't want to be subjected to the "heaves" commentary on this BBS [IMG], but, I would rather have had him shoot the last shot.

However, if he wasn't in the game (and I'm on crack, apparently) then none of that matters. [IMG]

You have 10 seconds left, no timeouts, what kind of perfect play did you think the rockets coaching staff would come up with,as terry porter was at the free throw line. Moochie did a great job, but the shooters( walt, and Cat) should have been closer to him. Thats the only problem I had with that play.

I think the play was supposed to be the same as the last time down, Moochie penetrates and hits a short shot. But the Spurs shut that down and all that was left was Mo's heave at the buzzer.

I expected another Cat heave... I was really surprised when he didn't even get the ball. I would have actually been more comfortable with the ball in Cuttino's hands cause he can pull up and drain it anytime.

I have 1 question though. Why didn't MoTay just set up a few feet in? Therefore when he got the ball, he woulda been in that 18 to 19 foot range that he loves.

Yea, Cuttino and Mooch were both asking for the ball, but Mo gave it to Mooch. I think that was the plan, but I would rather seen it in Cat's hands, because he can beat you off the 1st step, where Mooch has to work harder to try to use his cross to get to the bucket.

TacomaPark-Um, these guys are PROFESSIONALS who should know what the hell to do in the situation... If they pee in their pants with 10 secs left, then let's get these pieces of crap off the team...

As you can see I'm in a pissed off mood... These guys don't bother to use their head... Do we have ANY players with ANY common sense?? Or at least basketball sense??? Olajuwon might know something, but none of his teammates would understand him...

Is it that confusing for Moochie to think to give it to the Cat?

Anyone but Mo for the 3...

gosh, this team is horribly coached and has zero ability...

    Blow this team up please...

kidrock8 : Don't post angry. On the previous possession, Moochie had been able penetrate and get a high percentage shot, I'd go with what was working. It just didn't work this time.

Kidrock8, the fact that the rockets got off a clean shot is a good thing. In other games like this, the rockets haven't even been able to get up a shot. With todays defenses, its very hard to get up a clean last shot. I dont care if they are proffesionals, the coaching staff had to come up with a play in the amount of time Terry Porter was at the free throw line. The rockets didnt have a timeout to tell all the players where they were supposed to be. Moochie did use his HEAD. Like Puedlfor said, he was probably trying to penetrate for the easy 2 but was doubled. The only beef you could have would be that Mo Taylor shouldnt have been on the same side as mooch.

I can't argue with the effort tonight but I think the best play the Rockets could have used on the last play would have been a quick pick-n-roll w/ Mooch and Mo on that same side they were on. Mooch would go around the pick and either have an open shooting lane or could dish it out to Mo for a 17 ft shot. But, it didn't happen...gotta give Mooch credit though, he penetrated looking for that floater or a dish to an open man, but everyone was demanding the ball up top instead of getting in position on the perimeter for a pass. O well, it's tough to hit a shot w/ that little time left and no timeouts after a free throw.

I would have preferred a Cat heave to what we got. Cat should have had the ball the whole last play. No Steve = give the ball to Cat. I am not going to b**** though. The Rockets did just what I wanted. They played their hearts out. If they play as HARD as they did tonight, in every game for the rest of the season, they will finish above .500. I am still hoping for 43-39.

davo -- thanks... I try to get it up there quick [IMG]

    Just my two cents...
I have no problem with negative posts. Some people misinterpret negativity as "bandwagoning", fair-weather fans, etc. That's crap. You have to be a pretty diehard fan to have your day ruined by a loss -- you just got to vent at times when you feel they could do better. It's the nonstop sunshine being blown up others' asses I can't stand. If we sucked, you should say it: We sucked.

But I don't think that was the case against the Spurs. It was a step in the right direction (what wouldn't be after the Clippers shame?)

With that said, kidrock8, are you an idiot? "Zero ability"? "blow this team up"? Give it a rest... juat a slight overreaction to a 2-point road loss to one of the league's top teams.

The Rockets are still shooting poorly, but they didn't lose this game for lack of effort. In fact, consider they shot just 37% from the floor and still almost beat the Spurs in their place (San Antonio is 18-4 at home).

Mobley and Francis are looking like the best backcourt in the NBA, as much as I hate to give Mobley too much credit too early. "Zero ability"?

These guys played their hearts out tonight... especially Mobley early. He was aggressive but I didn't think he was "stupid" aggressive like he is at times (sorry Mobley apologists -- that's just a fact).

Lastly, the Rockets will never, ever go anywhere meaingful (championship) without a big man who can defend, and the Rockets brass knows it. They'll going to go hard after Webber, no question about it, and though they'll probably fail in getting him, they'll focus on filling that need. It's a smart organization... they'll make the right move. The rebuilding effort the past 2 years hasn't exactly been "slow" as rebuilding plans go. We may be slipping (3 straight losses, 22-25), but I think we're doing pretty well.

I've been paying attention lately to the speed that you get the headlines up. I noticed about a week ago that the headline was up just SECONDS after the game ended. Have you been posting it early if the outcome is inevitable?

Oh yeah. I thought they played well tonight. The Rockets might not win a game against San Antonio before Tim Duncan retires unless they get taller at PF and C. I hope Cato gets back and shows that he is a player. I also hope that we can pick up that Arizona C in the draft (I first saw him last week pound Texas - nice all around game). I could see us having a poor man's twin towers to compliment our three mighty mites. I'm not even getting my hopes up for Webber. Too much to ask for.

    damn, p***y cat.

If you are going to be a leader, you must demand the ball at crunchtime. Cat can't make the right decision to save any of his nine lives.
