Barkley's also the guy who called the T-Mac/Yao combo so good it was "scary". After Yao outdueled Shaq a few years ago Barkley came out on the Tonight Show and said "Yao kicked Shaq's butt."

I actually like Barkley a lot. He's opinionated but he's also pretty honest. He didn't welsh out on his "kiss Kenny Smith's ass" bet.

HUH? Barkley was the best power foward we have had thus far. He played hard every night! The guy was the king of hustle. How many 6'7 power forwards do you know that consistantly played at an allstar level?

watch the first video, its from the horses' mouth

barkely did play hard, i think he was gettin 20/10 most games
and if our open shooters made shots, he'd be 20/10/10

same reason we lost game 6 to the jazz
missing wide open 3s of the double on barkley

    problem is team chemistry>all.

and obvoiusly we didnt have it esp with Pippen/Barkely

I like Charles Barkley. I just so fun to watch him in the inside the NBA. He is funny and always tell what he thinks. I respect that guy.

Barkley, great athlete. But he was a ball stopper. Ball goes into Barkley and it don't come back out again. He would dribble dribble and back his big behind into his defender and then turn around and shoot. It was effective but for overall team chemistry not so much.

more like 6'4 1/2. He is definitely shorter than Jordan.

Barkley could jump like Jordan his first few years in the league. I remember the first time I saw him in the NBA. There were a bunch of tall guys under the basket. The ball came off the rim. Some short guy I couldn't even see came shooting up through the trees to pull down the rebound. He didn't even have to rely on his quickness. He would just plant himself under the basket and go straight up above the 6'10 guys.

He could then go coast to coast after getting the rebound.

That's one of the long list of reasons Barkley was and is my favorite person. He pound inside to grab the rebound and then turn into a SG sprinting down the court outrunning everyone else to basket. The guy at just over 6'4" averaged 10+ (most seasons well above) in all but one of his 16 seasons and that one season was his rookie year.

I still get nauseated thinking about the lineup you could send out from the 1984 draft class.

    PG Stockton
    SG Jordan
    SF Barkley
    PF Thorpe
    C Hakeem

Obviously Barkley wasn't a SF but he was more than capable of playing it. If you put Barkley at PF then I put Alvin Robertson at SG and move Jordan to SF.

The class also included Kevin Willis, Sam Bowie, Sam Perkins (and Rick Carlisle)

Dude was a monster at Auburn, he murdered Sam Bowie and Melvin Dinner Time Turpin every game. 2 7 footers afraid of a 6'4" post man. Let's not forget the numbers he put up in Philly and Phoenix.

He's absolutely right that he sucked and couldn't play anymore when got to the Rockets. The alcohol and late women nights did him in. Clyde and Scootie complained about Charles all night long. That's why he hates on the Rockets.

WRONG! The best power forward we've had since Moses Malone left is Otis Thorpe. We haven't had a good PF since OT left. Barkley was on the downside of a great career.
Thing is we have been searching for a good PF since the mid 90's and noe we have two!! :)

OT averages with Houston: Ages 26-32 15.5 pts 9.6 rebs on .560 shooting
Barkley avg's with Houston: Ages 33-36 16.3 pts 12 rebs on .481 shooting

Conclusions: It's about equal. Yes Barkley averaged more points but had a worse shooting percentage. Barkley however was the much better rebounder. I would generally say they were equal but if I had to choose I would take Barkley because he still shot a very good percentage and grabbed a lot more rebounds.

What this shows is that Barkley in his twilight years was just as good or maybe a little better than Thorpe in his prime years.

And to the Moses Malone people. Sorry he was a center. Played center pre-dominantly. 6'10" was considered big in his days like the 7' today. Now ironically Barkley has said that Malone was his mentor when he got into the league (they were both in Phily). What that shows is Malone was more of a center. Barkley was the PF Malone the C. Plus Malone is in the HoF as a center and his NBA.com profile begins, "One of the game's all-time great centers."
