First of all, I have been following this saga since the inception. I am in the extreme minority here. I don't want this guy here. I especially don't want his agent here.

I am going to keep this short. I am going to just state MY opinion.

I don't want this guy here. He is lazy. He doesn't rebound. He doesn't hustle. Yeah, he can score. But so can 90 percent of all the bums in the NBA. On top of that, he is in his last year of his contract. This type of player will bust his ass this year and hope for the money. Once he gets it, he ain't gonna do sh@t.

Finally, his agent is the Don King of basketball. He will try and hi-jack the Rockets if they don't do what he says. Heard what he said to the Pistons? He said that he will "never bring them another client". What a jackass.

Look at Mo Taylor. Does he look like someone that wants to win? Did he want Houston at all? Or, did the Rocks seem like the used and abused hooker in a situation where someone was looking to get their "Rocks" off?

This guy was not looking to sign for the exception like Anderson did. We are the other woman in the whole situation because of a dead trade. And now, we get to have Don King in our corner to "hook" us up with future players one day.

Oh Joy!! Happy day in Houston!!

Add all that to the fact that he bashes his teammates openly. Too much money/Pippen in this for me to be excited. If he joins us, so be it, but I won't be ecstatic.

    I agree.

I am going to give him a chance, like I have a choice, but I have the feeling that one way or another, he is going to end up screwing the Rockets.

    great post Almu.

He is better than any front court player we have right now. Rebounding can improve , his defense he just has to pay more attention to. Rudy will know what to do with him.

    Almu,

    Almost my sentiments exactly.

I dont' want him, but for some different reasons.

I don't mind his "lack" of rebounding. Or his supposed work ethic.

I don't want him because if we do get him, he'll want the maximum when it comes time to re-sign him. And if we do give him the max, then we will be unable to sign any other big name free agents (Webber) when the season ends.

In short, if we sign Taylor the Rockets are saying that he is the answer or the final key to a championship team, because we won't be able to get anyone else.

    Great Points Almu

But, he's played for the Clippers who have a history of:

    1. Terrible Records
    2. Terrible players
    3. Terrible Coaches
    4. Terrible GM who makes terrible trades (exception of this summer)

He has had literally no direction from his Coaches + his surrounding cast sucks. Now he'll be around a good/great supporting cast, including Dream to help mentor.

It's amazing what "winning" or being in a "winning" organization will do to a career. Plus, using the exemption is worth the risk, if you want to call it that.

Hate to use the same cliche, "He has tremendous upside".

I too would like to join the Anti-MO or Clean Shaven Club (not sure if it is the USA, but in Australia a Mo refers to a moustache), so i think the No MO club should be called the Clean Shaven Society.

I do agree with F3 that scoring wise he is better than anyone we have, BUT

    He is a Cancer

and has the potential to destroy the great team chemistry that was built last season, plus with Cat, Steve, Wlat and Cato already on this team won't don't need anymore poor defenders.

You have missed the point! No, MO isn't Chris Webber, but he is a good, solid player who is clearly better than any of the Rockets current frontcourt players, save a healthy Olajuwon. It is unlikely that we would be able to land Webber next year, so MO is a nice consolation prize that will help us to be a perennial playoff team again.

I don't see the downside to a Mo signing. Option A - he has a sorry season, rides the pine in Htown, and then we dump him like a sack of potatoes in the offseason. Option B - he has a solid or good season, and leaves next offseason for more money. Seems unlikely, but if that's the case at least we've gotten the benefit for 1 year, and free agent PFs see that we have a system they could thrive in, and an immediate open spot in the lineup. Option C - he has a good season, and wants to resign with the Rox. Rudy then has the option to either keep the man, or he can choose to "go another direction" if he thinks that Mo will slack off when he starts making the big money. That is exactly the decision he made with Sam Mack - and it turned out to be the right move.

Hey, I'm not sure that Mo is the type of guy we want as our starting PF. He's been a poor defender, and a poor rebounder, in his career to date. But he's got "upside" to his game, and could work out in either the short- or the long-term.

    Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Count me in with the Freak group- I couldn't disagree more.

For your first 3 things on Taylor- I have two words for you: the Clippers. Rebounding and hustle has a HUGE part to do with motivation, and after all of the things that happened with him in LA he had no reason at all to be inspired. None. This is a player with immense talent that on a young team I feel will greatly enhance his game. I expect him to give 100% for years here.

You don't pass up on a player because of his agent.

Mo liked the Rockets all along from what I understand. Falk kept showing him the other options.

Personally, I am thrilled with the acquisition. The downside is not that bad, and the upside is tremendous. In a new atmosphere with something to prove to the league I think this guy will surprise all of you. 90% of the "bums" do not have Taylor's offensive talents. He is a gifted offensive player who if motivated could be one of the top 7 or 8 PFs in the NBA. This guy IMO puts us in the playoffs this season, and quite possibly with work could be our PF of the future. I love it.

Saying that Taylor is better than any front court player we have is the ultimate in damning with faint praise. The only positives in this deal as far as I'm concerned are that he won't cost much and the Rockets aren't committed long term. He gets a one year shot to shed his flea collar.

I guess you never worked at a crappy company who doesn't care about quality. That is what the clippers are. A company who only cares about the bottom line, not about being the best. When you are a young elite athlete who isn't used to losing, it must be demoralizing to work for a team who just doesn't give a sh*t.

Give Mo a chance, winning makes everyone happy. Look at Pippen, he almost looked like an angel when he was winning in Chicago. If we win, I think he will have a great attitude and all of us fans will be happy.

    It's now a tie.

Pro Mo b/c it's only for one season and there's not much downside. I am really looking forward to watch Steve drive and have 2 big powerful players to pass off to. Or how about Mo is doubled teamed and kicks it out to Steve who breaks it back to the weak side for Shandon, Walt or Langhi.

    How many days until pre-season?

This is a cheap one year lease with an option to purchase plan -- with a balloon payment at the end of one year.

No risk at the 2.25 we offer -- this deal stacks up well against the 3 yr @ 17.5 the Raptors had on the table.

If this guy is a cancer, stick him on the bench -- we've certainly paid more than 2.25 for a bench player with no playing time before. What's the downside here? Have a little faith in Rudy and staff. They wouldn't be bringing this guy on if they didn't believe there was a good chance that he would pan out. That's good enough for me.

It's very similar to the Pippen deal without the 14 million dollar salary. If he doesn't work out -- he's out of here and it didn't cost us a starter.
