I've read repeatedly on this site about the Rox acquiring either Brian Grant (this year) and/or Chris Webber (next year via FA). If that be a direction Rocket brass is headed in, what is all the hoopla about Swift about? Don't they all play the 4 position?

Are they mayhaps pumping Swift up to create a downdraft for Miller, Miles, Dermarr or some other 3 they REALLY want to fall to #9? Maybe the Courtney Alexander rumors serve the same purpose? Isn't he the guy that played high school ball with Tracy McGrady?

Maybe the Rox are trying to force the Bulls into taking Alexander with #4 or #7? Having Alexander on board may entice McGrady to become a Bull. Same strategy goes for the positive workout review on Pryzbilla.

Every 4- or 5-type guys that crawls up the lottery ladder improves the Rockets chances of landing that sweet-shooting and ball-handling SF they want.

This is great fun. Some of you guys have a fantastic knowledge base; I congratulate you on your thoroughness. Me: I'm just a long-lost Rocket fan and a lover of the intriguing draft process.

No, Cory Hightower was the guy who played HS ball with TMac (and also claimed he beat him a lot 1 on 1).

Now, why would we think for one minute we're guaranteed Grant or Webber? We wouldn't, so it makes sense to pursue Swift.

Everything I've heard tells me the Rockets REALLY want Swift. A very good source told me that Swift is the guy Rudy desperately wants and that they've been scouting him since high school.

Does that mean they'll be able to trade up for him? Probably not. From what I hear, the Rockets aren't the only team out there that loves this kid.

Also, don't underestimate the fact that many teams will not only do what is necessary to improve their own teams but also whatever they can to hurt other teams chances. That's why they call it competition.

Thanks NIKEstrad for the corrections. I guess I caught the presumption disease. A lot of the people here who want to move Cato were doing so on the premise (promise) of Webber being here next year. I guess I got swept up in the enthusiasm.

If Swift stiffarms both the Grizz and the Clips, who else falls in there that would take him (Chicago, Orlando, Atlanta, Chicago again, and Cleveland) even if he doesn't fill their most pressing need?

Could he slip to #9 or will his protests soften the demands of (probably) the Clips so that we get the #3 pick and Swift without giving up the farm (maybe Cato, BD and KT for #3 and Olokawandi or just BD and KT for #3)? New scenery for both Cato and Kandy might be good for them. Vancouver at #2 can opt for Fizer who to my knowledge hasn't issued such a rejection of any franchise and can't go back to school anyway.

We end up with Swift at #3 and Miller, Dermarr or Alexander at #9.
