I thought Rocky 5 sucked. However, I have read the screenplay excerpts in "Sly" magazine for Rocky 6. And the story was damn good! I think this movie is going to kick ass. I can't wait!

Does anyone know if Survivor will be doing the soundtrack? They had a brief resurgence with the "Glenn" commercial for Starbuck's. Here's hoping we get another "Burning Heart" or "Eye of the Tiger."

It's the rye or the kaiser, it's the thrill of one bite
Let me please be your catering advisor
If you want substitutions, I won't put up a fight
You can have your roast beef on the rye or the kaiser

Does the screenplay still have Rocky as a widower? You can't have a Rocky movie without Adrian.

Yes, the music in the first four movies was great. Part of what made the first movie in particular so good was the score. It would be hard to imagine those movies without the music. In R5 it seemed we got a bunch of MC Hammer crap. I think Rocky might be my favorite movie of all-time at the moment.

From the article in the link codell posted:

"It also launched one of the most successful film series of all time. 1979's "Rocky II" grossed $85 million, and 1982's "Rocky III," which featured Mr. T, grossed $120.2 million. "Rocky IV," with Dolph Lundgren, made $125.4 million after its 1985 release. By the decade's close, however, audiences seemed to have tired of the character. "Rocky V," released in 1990, made only $40 million."

So, in 15 years time, Stallone thinks that audiences have grown hungry for the Rocky Balboa character??!!

I actually think that if Stallone tries really hard, he can pull this off. Has to be done right though.

    My idea:

Rocky's new opponent needs to be very similar or mirror the Rocky we saw in I and II. The script should be a direct comparison of a new, young, hungry figther, trying to beat the odds, against an aged fighter who was once in the very same shoes. Kind of a passing of the torch script, with Rocky losing in the end. If the film can accurately, and emotionally, portray the new opponent as such, then I think it can be pulled off. Instead of the movie leading us to hate against Rocky's foe, it should lead us to love him, just like we did the original Rocky.

BTW .....I think Duane "The Rock" Johnson would be PERFECT for this role

You know how Hollywood Execs think.

For Rocky's main opponent, they'll cast a wacky Jackie Chan.

If they did to the Rocky character something similar to what was done in Million Dollar Baby, then that would be a movie worth watching - could even be better than the 1st Rocky.

Cinderella Man was a great movie. I don't think Rocky could pull that acting job off.

Oh come on now. Rocky IV was definitely the decandent peak of the series. There were so many dramatic themes in the movie. The diminutive and aging Rocky versus the seeming indestructible giant Drago. Rocky's national training methods (running up a mountain etc.) versus Drago's steroids and inhuman scientifically engineered regimens. America versus Russia. Capitalism vs. communism.

"I guess what I'm trying to say is, if I can change, and you can change, everybody can change!"

Definately agree. This was one for the ages and still fun to watch. Heck, I still think to myself 'I must break you' every time I see Yao step on to the court, because he reminds me of a Chinese Drago.

Anyway, I think that VI could be done well, but it could be done horribly. Stallone definately has some boxing fans and momentum with his 'The Contender' series.
