He jsut said it in the press conference when someone was asking about Yi's obligations. Apparently it's part of the agreement for them to be allowed to play in the NBA. He's gotta play for Chinese national team every summer. He didn't say jsut Yi. He said all chinese players.

Good to hear it from Thorn but I think everyone knew (at least in Houston) that all chinese players have an obligation to the CNT. I think even Wang ZhiZhi had to play every summer for the CNT, or am I wrong?

But we ALL know yao had to play every summer.

In that case, if Yao gets hurt again, trade him.

Yao should choose some important games to play, like Olimpics.
He cannot play all the national team games, and some games make no sense for Yao.
    Please protect Yao from injury,中国篮协!

Haha, you just wanted to say 睡皮打滚要啊! Wait, maybe I just want to say 睡皮打滚要啊? And yes, I agree as well. Yao's CNT obligations have to have SOME limit to them. I understand the level of loyalty he feels towards his country, but he has to feel SOME loyalty to the Rockets and the city of Houston as well. Somewhere down the line, he's going to have to make a decision.....either continue down the path he's going, and severely affect his pro-basketball career in the USA, or taper off his CNT duties, and strive to reach the next level of super-stardom in the NBA.

Didn't Wang Zhizhi rebel and refused to play for the CNT after coming over? He was considered a black sheep after that and China was reluctant to send over Yao.

I disagree. Anything to do with Player's obligations to the CNT has to do with the Rockets. Especially this summer.

Right forum. This applies directly to Yao and his duties post-olympics.

If he keeps getting injured and being required to play every summer even though the Olympics for his country are over, then somewhere along the way we should ponder what trade value he has.

Only if you are part of the China National Team. No need to go back and play for them if you ain't part of the team right? Wang Zhizhi refused to go back few years ago when he was a free agent. China banned him from the team. Later he apologized and was able to get back playing for China.

said it before...i'd entertain trading yao if the right deal came along. in no way is he untouchable.
