I'm sure this thread will last real long in the Hangout. This is an idiotic thread. FIFA is an international organization and has no allegiance to any country. I don't see the problem with them wanting to get paid for their programming. If they gave it to the US troops for free, what other countries troops do they have to give it to and under what situations? Perhaps if you were not so damned ignorant you'd understand this concept before throwing up such a stupid ass thread with a stupid ass title.
I agree with MB on this one...if they give it free to one nation, why wouldn't they give it free to others. I can understand sports that are based in the United States giving free service to the Armed Forces, but I'm not going to criticize FIFA for not doing this. I wish they would have, but I can certainly understand why they would not.
Let's face it, nobody in America gives a damn about soccer. You would think that FIFA would try to promote it a bit more, but I guess not.
Then what's the big deal? If no one in America (I guess the article was lying when it said an estimated 25% of troops are fans), then why should we care if they didn't give out a feed for free? Do they have MLB Extra Innings for free over there?
I doubt it, but I think those ESPN sunday night radio games are broadcast over there, though I am not positive about that. I'm pretty sure the Super Bowl is.
If soccer sucks and nobody in America gives a damn, wouldn't they be doing the troops a favor? I'm confused.
Yet another reason to hate baseball!!!!! How dare the MLB not show all of its games to our troops!!!!!
Does ESPN and Fox (or whoever is showing the Super Bowl in any given year) provide free service to troops from Russia, Africa, China, etc. or do wealthy Russians, Africans and Chinese have to step up to pay so that their respective servicemen get to see the game(s)?
