I don't see why Israel can't just go arrest that dude. Here's a guy who's sitting at his house that you KNOW is a terrorist. Why not get him? Israeli intelligence has GOT to know where he is.
They probably will not arrest him, but kill him. Another question is - why did Ara-phat never arrest that dude before when he had the power to do so?

If he gets Hamas & company on his bad side, he loses a huge chunk of his power base because some of the people really believe Hamas and such support them. If he loses internal power, all hell breaks lose b/c he'd be replaced by a more extreme leader. He's kind of in a messy situation. That said, he certainly should have and could have done far more than he has thus far. He has no one to blame but himself for his current mess.
And the hardliners in Israel get more supporters. Why can't they just close the borders? I can't believe all the misery those people are going through, on both sides. This is a tinder box for another WW. DaDakota

The only way we stopped the Kamakazi attacks was by killing hundreds of thousands of people. The only way Jordan stopped the Palestinian riots was by killing tens of thousands of people. I certainly hope this situation rights itself soon, or there will be far fewer people in that region as someone is bound to go off and kill LOTS of people. DaDakota
Acts of Palestinian terror stopped while Operation Defensive Shield was ongoing. This sucks, no two words about it, but Israel has no choice. They will roll into Gaza within 2-3 weeks, innocent people will die alongside the guilty, and there's absolutely nothing America or anyone else can do about it. Even if they pull out of the territories & shut down the settlements (something I think all reasonable people would be in favor of, in theory) don't believe for a second that the violence will stop. Look at Hizbullah/Lebanon. I'm so tired of this hopeless situation....
My sentiments exactly. This is also why Israel can't negotiate right now until they know there won't be ANY more suicide bombings. Just like the U.S., they refuse to negotiate with terrorists. If you give in to terror and do a land for "peace" deal, some other terrorist with some other twisted cause is going to use the same weapon and expect Israel or whomever to give in. Its like a bully at school.. he comes up to you every day at lunch and hits you in the arm and asks for your sandwich. You can A) give your sandwich to him or B)Slug him in the freaking mouth and tell him to F off. I think if you give in to the bully he will just come back again. The real problem is that Hizbullah and Hamas want Israel GONE. They won't stop.. so what do you do? I'd give em a knuckle sandwich.
How can you really stop the bombings? If Yassar is not REALLY going to help root out the people on his own side, or call them out, and tell them they are hurting the process, then I don't see how Israel can have peace. Maybe they can do the gangster thing.....you know....anyone identified as a suicide bomber, and all their family gets killed. You bomb, and your family is whiped out. I know that won't work, and is arcaic...but man....I don't see how they can stop these bombings. DaDakota
They Can't Close the Borders, Because Israeli's Continue, to this Day, building settlements in the West Bank. That is the Issue behind all of this terror. These settlements are why many in the Israeli Army are boycotting fighting in the Occupied Territories. Close those few small settlements, get out of the West Bank and Gaza, and the terror will stop. The Palestinians have been trying to recieve a country and self-determination for 30 years. There are those who as children were born in refugee camps, tents with no running water and little hygene that is a breeding ground for disease of the body and mind in the form of extremism. Lift a people out of economic and social depravity and their economic opportunity cost will be too high to sacrifice their lives in order to attempt to kill Israeli's. But with Israel military controling a foreign people, this will go on.
