Don't worry, most of the spam these days comes from overseas, not from this guy. This won't lessen your spam load considerably. Sorry.
Anybody that buys "V _ I _ A _ G _ R _ A" or "v1agra" or "v.i.a.g. r.a" are seriously screwed up. Do people really buy anything at all from them? Geez.
Sad, but true. What should really happen is... It should be against international law to use other computers as spam relays without the owners consent. Punisheable by huge fines and jail time. THAT would probably make a big difference. -- droxford
No, what should (and probably will eventually) happen is that all SMTP servers should be forced to authenticate with each other before they will accept email from each other. Clear text email was wonderful while it lasted, but in this country, especially with the way that businesses rely on email, spam needs to be taken care of. Maybe Microsoft will put that into Exchange 7.
Even though I get almost 20 pieces of spam in my inbox each day, I really dont mind it. I just delete it and move on. I really dont think they should jail someone for mildly inconveniencing you. I think most ppl make a much bigger deal about it than the problem really is. Its a free country, let people do what they want.
I don't want them in jail. I just wish I had a way to reply and send them a massive virus that would only affect them and they couldn't detect until it was too late.
I get in the neighborhood of a hundred a day both at home and at work and, though it is only a nuisance, does take tome to scna and delete. There are some pretty easy technical remedies, but it takes the big companies a while to build them into their products, especially when it involves changes in established internet protocols like SMTP.
