Posting a special promo code in coolweather's thread made me realize one thing. It's been AGES since I've used the Yellow Pages. When was the last time you used the actual heavy yellow book to look up something? I think the last time I used it was to look up the seating chart for some theater tickets at the Alley, 'cuz that book doesn't only have phones, it has lots more info. I wonder when it will be the last time the book is published... and I also believe it's a waste of paper and money... shouldn't they give us a choice if we want the book delivered? All I ever do is just hide it in the closet and it collects dust.
I'll use it (rarely) to look up a vendor that I know isn't likely to be on the internet yet -- lawn guy, mechanic, locksmith, stuff like that. My wife got into the yellow pages for her business as an experiment. Most of her traffic comes through her website. I don't think she has had a successful sale yet from the yellow pages. I don't think the publishers have done a good job of riding the internet wave and will likely lose to Google as a result. Someone with foresight could have built yellowpages.com into an online resource people would use. I think it may be too late now.
I use to use www.switchboard.com, but www.google.com for the win sure is correct. They also have a reverse phone lookup. I also meant to ask "What service do you use instead of the yellow pages?" You know, every time I see that 'FTW', I think you're saying '[you] don't give a darn' as in "Ph*ck the World"
google ftw but i never click on the google ads, those are expensive!!! so yea i'll never click on a google ad, i'll instead look for their company in the search results instead
Just drive down to i45 north and Aldine Bender and you can find anything you need there. Make sure its between the hours of 4am and 9am.
I get the WEST HOUSTON YP's, the HOUSTON YP's, the "Spanish" YP's, and the at&t YP's. WTF... can't we just get ONE HUGE-MONGOUS one?!?!?
I recently learned how to tear phone books in half, so I've been using them for that purpose (practice tearing them).
