with Brandon Morrow having a no-hitter through 8 against Tampa. He's got 1 walk and 16 strikeouts. Toronto leads 1-0.
It's ridiculous. This would be the like the 4th no hitter/perfect game versus the Rays the last two years.
Gave up an infield with 2 outs in the 9th. Sucks for him to be that close and lose the no no on an infield hit.
Random side-note. I've just moved to Calgary temporarily, and had the game on the radio while I was running errands. Alan Ashby does color commentary for the Blue Jays, and he talked a lot about all the dominating Astros pitchers that he caught, and catching the no hitters by Nolan, Mike Scott, and Ken Forsch. It was nice to hear him again.
This is baseball's reaction to the extremely long time use of amphetamines by it's players. I can't believe no major news outlet hasn't put 1 and 1 together. But once amphetamines were added to the list of banned substances and all of a sudden pitchers have dominated. It's a lot harder for players to get through the grind without the uppers.
I was at this game today and damn, the atmosphere was certainly the best I've seen in Toronto. Really sad to see Aaron Hill bumble that ball with 2 out but the way Morrow came back with the strikeout was class. I've watched Morrow this year and he has tremendous stuff, just can't place his pitches consistently on most nights. It was great to see him put it all together this afternoon.
WOW! that is incredible. but its kinda funny - I just realized how little I follow baseball these days...I automatically thought of this guy...Brenden Morrow..the Stars Captain.
