What point are you trying to make?

    Title is misleading.

And your point is? We know Yao is good, but your title makes it sounds like we are better off without tmac, while in the reality we lost 3 out of last 4.

What's interesting to me is that the point totals are basically the same, but his assist numbers jump up to 4-5 a game. The scrubs are actually making more shots each game, as they learn to live with only Yao. Last year, the scrubs would have gone 1-on-1 more and Yao would not have the assist.

Point being hopefully T-Mac is out only for a week and Yao should be player of the week.

too bad they couldn't win just one more game this week. yao would've been a lock for POW.

oh well at least he can win POM again! :D

His teammates have done a much better job of making themselves available when Yao gets double-teamed. Especially this game when Juwan, Chuck, and Bonzi were each able to get open inside for layups or fouls. And once or twice every game Yao gets an easy assist by dumping off to Luther or Rafer streaking baseline after throwing the entry pass.

If they can continue executing against doubles, this team can be really dangerous when Tracy comes back.

Great I'm-the-leader-now streak by Yao. And once again an announcer (this time the Clippers' play-by-play guy) chose to compliment him by saying, "This is what everyone was expecting from the big guy about two years ago."

Man, that pisses me off more than anything. Second place would be the way they squeal with delight whenever anyone blocks Yao, scores over him, or even beats him on a tip off. It's like nobody has realized yet that jumping is not one of his strong points.

Kelly Dwyer, if you're reading this, you should absolutely do a piece on the subtle racism shown against the big guy on a regular basis.

he may not win POW because of our 1-3 record, but how about POM?

    yao in Dec.:

    28ppg, 9.5rpg, 3bpg

Remember the month is still young and Yao is getting good at making 30 or more. So by the end of the month he could be avering 30 pts for Dec. and over 27 for the season. Y

i don't think racism is the reason. i think it is becuz yao is sooo tall.

remember shawn bradley? that guys is soo freakin' tall that he made it to the ESPN highlights almost everyday becuz it is an accomplishment for another player to dunk over him.
(i feel bad for shawn bradley, people only remember how other people dunk all over him, but nobody remembers that he led the league in shot blocking once.)
now would u say its racism when the media show McGrady's DUNK over shawn bradley the white guy a billion times?

I actually thought the Clippers announcers did a pretty fine job. Most broadcasters have been playing their dues to Yao Ming with the way he's playing. I especially enjoyed Jon Barry and Bill Walton (both big Yao fans already) praising him throughou the game friday night. They both made it clear they'd take him over a healthy Shaq...rightfully so.

I'm not talking about the announcers in the Clippers game, per se. I'm talking about all the subtle ways racism shows up where Yao is concerned. It's not as over the top as in the Jackie Robinson days, but it's still there, in the details.

Yes, and that was Shawn's only contribution and attribute. No different than Manute Bol, Eaton, George Muresan. You understand the attraction. It's like a contest of who can leap over the giant freakshow. But, in every announcer's and r****ded player's (Quentin Richardson, and Shaq in his surreptituous digs, for example) eyes, that's all he is. For inexplicable reasons, his height overshadows being top 10 in scoring, top 11 in rebounds. Offering up an average of 3 assists and 3 blocks for this month. And like Bullard said, "What other 7'5" player can finish a fastbreak like Yao?" The guy has displayed more athleticism and footwork than any of his 'tall' predecessors. He shoots a pretty damn consistent 15-18ft jumpshot and he does it cause he's 'tall'? Anyone remember Bol and the others doing that at all?
Yet, to these morons he's just 'tall', and hilarous to witness getting dunked on?

There's gotta be more to it than his height. And, no I don't think it's a racist issue as in hatred, but definitely buy the racial/cultural pride issue from former black american players and announcers.

    yao's week without tmac: 1-3

    stellar numbers, pathetic record.

HOWEVER, its just a matter of finishing games. it could have easily been 3-1,if baron hadn't hit that 3, and if they hadn't let the lakers come back. but then again, those are big ifs
