I actually tried making the post with nothing in the message as I thought that was pretty clever...FAIL So then I tried putting in spaces to give the appearance of being nothing...FAIL Anyhow there is something you didn't know. And being 7'6" doesnt help when the highest you can reach when you jump is just as high as all the 6'10" guys who can jump...If this guy wasn't from China and earning the team millions over there I think the trade Yao he is overrated bandwagon wouldn't be quite as lonely.
I think you're giving him too much credit. More like ------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------
Don't laugh but do those strength shoes that suppose help vertical work? http://www.hoopskills.com/jumping/strengthshoes.html Or maybe Yao should try these exercise regimens http://outside.away.com/outside/bodywork/dunk-basketball.html http://ask.metafilter.com/18288/Dunking-a-basketball
LOL he HAS to get some of those shoes that Kramer wore in that episode of Seinfeld...somebody has to know what I am talking about
Seriously, I am always thinking why not load a magnet inside the ball, and do a circuit around the hoop to generate a magnetic field....
Recently I watched a tv interview, which was shot before he's headed back to H-Town,concerning Yao's growth and bla bla bla. In that Yao talked about his skills and his vertical elevation, which he admitted that he sucked at. I didn't expect him of improving on his vertical, but at least don't get himself blocked by the players like Lamar Odom or last yr Nate Robinson(if my memory serves me right)
Read several years ago that hew used to have a decent vertical. He had some surgery or something which cut down his vertical by a lot. Not sure if the story was true though.
The truth is, if you are tall, you don't have to jump to get the damn rebound. Jumping or no jumping, that's the big difference. I don't think vertical is the weakest link in Yao's bball skills. If you have watched recent rockets' games, the bad thing happened to him was that he did not have the speed or reaction or passion to be on the right position when defending. A lot of shots, Yao just let them go. There must be something wrong. Hopefully, he is just tired. Regarding the blocking....again, Yao need to know how to protect the ball in his hands and how to use his elbow like Deke.
I think normal men's weight distribution between their upper and lower body is probably like 60-40 for normal people...I am totally making this up btw I know nothing factual...my logic is the upper body has all the guts and has more mass but the lower body does have big muscles in the leg which are heavy. Anyways my point is that I think Yao's distribution is like 25-75 he has tree trunks for legs and this little bitty upper body and weak sauce arm strength...Compare him and DHoward...or Dorsey or Artest...someone needs to get yao off the leg press and onto the bench press or something...
Tmac is clearly hurt though and admits it, which he gets hated on for. Plus we all know he shows up when he wants to...with Yao its almost more frustrating because he is so clearly trying hard and still coming up quite short...
Nobody doubts Tracy's talent. Actually, he is probably the most talented SF in NBA history. The only problem is his heart.... If you went back to Yao's history, nobody believed he could be one of the best centers. Though hard working itself can't bring us the title, it does make difference.
Nobody believed he could be one of the best??? Really??? THEN WHY THE *****************BALLS DID WE DRAFT HIM NUMBER 1. Thats nonsense every year there is arguments over whether he is the best in the league or not. The Yao supporters always drop the "when he's healthy..." bomb. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but history has taught us that the guys over 7 feet, their career decline very sharply and I think Yao is our greatest example of that. His health, his energy he is just too freaking big.
we don't have a true C to back him up,he's definitely exhausted during the game. I guess that's why he put up a bad show night in and night out. When I watched the game, I noticed that he seemed lost and confused where he should position. I don't know whether it's all about the team chemistry or not,but our first priority should be to get a backup C for Yao and for us good.
