I would be curious as to see the other player's touches compared to Yao. I mean Artest touched the ball quite a bit... and also tried to force it one on one in a couple of situations. I don't really know what this is suppose to prove. That Yao touches it a lot and we lose? That Yao doesn't touch it enough and we lose? How does his touches compare to stars on other teams. How many times does he touch it vs. Duncan, Lebron, Wade, Jefferson, Roy, Dirk, ect... he is our star player so I guess the numbers should be comparable. -V
he is usually ineffective vs fronting defenses so more touches in the low post would be for naught. again, we have to figure something out that will make yao a bigger impact in games where he's playing these kinds of fronting defenses.
you can use it by looking at usage ratings, which determines the # of possessions a player uses per 40 minutes a perimeter's usage rating is usually higher than an inside guy, esp. for a star. but let's compare. i'll look at the top scorers lebron james - 33.3 (not surprising) - best perimeter player chris bosh - 24 (very very efficient player) for 27ppg - best big man wade - 34.2 dirk - 26 kobe - 29 jefferson - 26 amare - 21 now let's look at our 3 stars yao - 22 (his highest was a whopping 30 under JVG's last yr) tmac - 22.8 (his highest was a whopping 32.9 under JVG's last yr) ron - 20 so as you see, our stars are touching the ball less (obviously b/c they're not one man teams).
There are ways to be big impacts besides scoring. What about rebounding and blocked shots? When both teams shoots under 40%, there are about 100 rebs. 9 is cool, but 15 wouldve been better. CCR, what I really like what you're doing is that over your sample now, people will soon see Yao touches the ball in scoring position a lot. Even in the high post, there are turn and face options that he can do also. Offensive rebs which aren't in the chart are options for easy put backs.
Offensive rebounds are included in the chart. And for people wondering "what's the point of this?", well the point is not as much to show how many touches Yao gets compared to his teammates, but to show where he's getting them as well as the quality and result of each.

I'm confused by your post. I didn't start posting these charts in response to leebigez. I posted them because I thought his original post was a good, valuable idea, and I thought it'd be useful if someone started doing it on a game to game basis. At that point, I figured I would just do it myself.
What ever, Yao should move to NY after 2010 with LJ. Yao Ming (明)+Lebron（朗）=明朗（Brightly） So, the god has given us some hints. And if Yao move to NY where has 4 ChinaTwons, would get much more local fans. Anyway, Yao has to go to NY. Houston doesn't has any advantage after 2010, particularly for Yao.
