    Source from Chinese Media
    Main points:

    1. Yao's shoulder's injury is a lot more serious than originally thought. Certain moves will cause great pain to Yao.
    2. Yao's toe does not need surgery.
    3. If there is surgery on Yao's shoulder, it will need about 6 months to recover and no games can be played during that period.
    4. For Yao's shoulder, it's either a surgery or recover through tough physical therapy, though the doctors (from different parts of America) haven't made a final decision yet.

After reading the article, it seems real enough, and my only consolation is that yao will have plenty of rest this summer.

pryuen reported this earlier in his Yao's summer activities thread...

he has been advised against surgery because even after full recovery the shoulder will only be able to retain 75% of it's previous strength...

to me this sounds like another case of chinese media spinning previously reported facts. exagerration obviously sells

This better not be for real. If he needs 6 months to recover, he'd miss a month of the season. And that's if he had the surgery right now.

T-mac has had off and on injuries for a span of 5yrs...

Yao = 2yrs of serious amount of games missed.

I'm wondering the same thing. What happened? Did we miss something?

This would be a huge blow for us IF he gets that 6 months off. We already saw how Yao never really got back into his old form after his last injury. It takes him so long to regain his game.

I hope the Chinese National Team will understand and let Yao fix whatever he needs to fix and give him time to recuperate.

I hope this 'injury' will keep the Lakers away from ever thinking about trading Yao for Kobe.

    what a bad news.
The surgery can fix the bone flakes and the broken muscle, but Yao can never recover from this and more coming.......

The 1-11 window is officially closed.

if this is true... then i would say Yao just became a trade asset

    too many injuries...

    Kobe wants out of L.A

Yao and Tmac... are about as best value the Lakers or any team will get...in the market...this year....

He's hurt so much cause he was asked for play tough physical brusing basketball in the post. Instead of moving outside once in awhile. Patrick Ewing he ain't. But Patrick Ewing is what JVG tried to turn him into.

2 yrs w/ injuries in diff. places. for a guy as big as he is, those can become chronic b/c he never seemed to rest enough to fully heal those injuries.
