Finally, Yao had all he could stand -- or sit. The anger and frustration that had seemed to have every reason to bubble under his skin finally boiled over and spilled out on the Conseco Fieldhouse court. By the third quarter, he was screaming at the referees, even chasing NBA veteran official Ed Rush down to earn his first technical foul of the World Championships. He madly swatted at shots as if the goaltending calls were worth the release of anger. And when New Zealand completed its comeback from a 24-point deficit to a 94-88 win Wednesday, Yao immediately stormed off the court, angrily throwing the rubber band he wears on the way. Yao did not wait to shake his opponents' hands, as is custom after World Championship games. He did not leave with his teammates, as China's players have after every game. He just got out as fast as he could as if he was not able to suffer a moment more. In just 26 minutes, Yao had 27 points, making all eight of his shots from the field and all 11 of his free throws. But it was his most maddening game. "It's all on my face," Yao said. "A lot of things we can't control." His expression throughout the game left little mystery. But in China's fifth loss in six tournament games, its problems seemed self-inflicted. China had gotten off to a phenomenal start. Yao had 13 first-quarter points and China led 35-13 after one quarter. Then China coach Wang Fei benched Yao. "The first quarter, he had a lead by over 20 points," Wang said. "We need to have Yao Ming rested for the rest of the game. We needed to preserve him." But Yao did not get a mere breather. He sat for the rest of the half, even as New Zealand pulled within nine. "I felt a little tired," Yao said. "Coach Wang Fei made the decision." Yao returned in the third quarter but became upset at calls and non-calls, once screaming at Rush, "He pushed me every time." And when Yao was called for traveling on a spin move, he ran to Rush on the other end of the court to earn his technical. "He's got to learn you can't talk like that," Rush said. "Referees calls at a critical time ruin a whole year's of training of players," Wang Fei said. "Today's referee we know is from the NBA."
Yao will have to learn to overcome his frustration when he doesn't get the calls in the NBA. Wang Fei is behaving like an amateur club coach.
Wang Fei is once again shifting the criticism to somewhere other than himself. Ming's frustration is not just toward the ref. If he was used properly and they were winning games, you think he would argue with the official like that? Ming could not lash out to his own coach. What else could he do?
Mr. Wang Fei is just jealous that Yao is an NBA NO.1 pick, and he himself, although studied coaching in the NBA, is not even a towel boy there.
It was really frustrating to yao and anyone that followed the game....A win about to take place but with a bad coach's decision cost it to fade away.... Yao probably got tired of losing..... just like any player....
1 thing yao and steve have in common. They hate loseing. Yao knows his team sucks he knows they all suck. And he knows they will never win, and he is knows he can't do it alone he needs help. I bet he will be really happy when he comes here. Poor gy i bet he's depressed.
Never seen this before Actually I've been watching Yao Ming play for several years, and it was the 1st time he behaved like this. Not bad though, young guy?
I think Ed Rush tried to send a message to Yao and to the new class of rookies coming in, that the NBA dont take bull I just think they used him as an example.

i hope yao is like hakeem in the early years of his career. he would get into many fights. Maybe with shaq. Does Ming know kung fu?
