It has nothing to do with Yao's confidence -- it's because Griffin hasn't played since then. His presence takes pressure off of Yao on both ends of the court. Mo-T and T-Mo haven't stepped up enough and consequently, Yao is having to try to do everything himself.

 

Someone suggested putting Cato and Yao in together whenever the going gets rough in the post.
