I took the time to make these video clips.... The first two are of Yao's clean block of Antonio Davis' slam dunk attempt. The third is of his 18 footer- all net. ecinokc, good job. Would you be able to find a video cip or a photo showing Yao's block of MJ's shot in Rox's overtime loss to Wizards?
Thank you to those who replied back in appreciation of my efforts. Nautic, as per your request, I made two video clips of Rockets vs Washington Wizards. The first one is Yao's slick underhanded scoop shot from the start of the game. The second one is the block of Michael Jordan's shot. Enjoy http://members.cox.net/ecokc1/yaoscoopshot.wmv http://members.cox.net/ecokc1/yaoblockingmichaeljordan.wmv
This thread deserves to be sticky. A lot of people may not yet read this because they think this is just a regular commentary. Wish that DoD changes the thread's title to put a video clip words on it.
Awesome video clips! I was very interesting in seeing that block live after seeing a photo of it on Yahoo.com. Thanks for putting up those videos. What's interesting about the Yao block is that it isnt even CLOSE to a foul! Sometimes blocks are close to being a foul with contact or whatever but that block was so clean it isnt even funny. There is NO body contact whatsoever! I am not sure what the refs were thinking, perhaps that Yao got his arm or something. I have a feeling after the refs around the league see that blown call and seeing that Yao does have the ability to make that type of game changing play, Yao will GET that call from now on. Sometimes it is about respect and about doing it. Yao made the play, has the ability and from now on should get that call. Chris
Although, I believe it was clean. I can see why they called it a foul. What you don't see in this video clip is Yao body against Davis's body when he made the block. Yao did not touch davis's arms but his body did slam into Davis's body a little bit when he came over from the right to reject it. The official was under the basket so he saw this and called. I thought it was weak because although it technically was foul, they seldomly call it.
Thank you so much. I missed the wizard game so I did not see that block on MJ before. It looks very clean to me.
