In the lastest SLAM ish 72, there is a "The Year in Pics" feature, which was basicly trying to cover the assumed most important events in the 02-03 NBA season. It had some nice pics like the MJ shot at ASG, Amare'd dunk over Kandyman, a cool Mobley pic (surprising)...

But the thing I don't understand is that the two pics YaoMing was on. The first one titled "Starbury" showed Marberry making a kick-out pass in front of Yao. The second one 'Yo Yao' was Greg Ostertag dunking on Yao . What the heck does that mean?

At SLAM ish. 69, Yao and Steve made the cover. At that time I thought SLAM liked Yao, at least was not that biased like EPSN. But... damn.

Forgot to mention, SLAM also had a 4-page article on Moochie Norris on this ish., which doesn't make any sense either.

Let's boycott Slam magazine, stop buying their product, and send email complain.

Even on the Slam issue with Yao/Steve in the throwbacks, they show a 2 page spread of Kobe dunking over Yao, so it aint like the havent been hatin on him before.

Every time I see that highlight on sportscenter (about 34 times a day).. I always think "Nice hustle defense off the weak side!"

while everyone else thinks "Haha china boy got a FACIAL!"

    everyone else is r****ded

That Oystertag facial was huge. First it was shown repeatedly on sportscenter on game night. Now it even makes it to Slam Magazine's "The Year in Pics".

Yes the facial was an extremely important event. Those two points from the facial were like the only 2 points scored by Oystertag all night in that game. That was basically his only bright moment in the whole game. It definitely fits the creteria as "one of the most important events in the 02-03 NBA season". Good job Slam Magazine.

    You mean you don't know?

Greg Ostertag is a legend on SLAM! That's the reason they show that picture. They were giving props to the "legendary" GREG OSTERTAG!

    :D

In 15 years, SLAM! will be filled with featured articles on International players that can actually do more than "slam."

I heard Scoop Jackson, Slam's "premiere" writer, on the radio the other day talking about the NBA. The guy is a complete moron and can't even put together a clear sentence. I was seriously shocked that he could be the head writer of a major publication. I don't give SLAM any cred.

Hey, Scoop's not a moron! He was very smart in picking Indiana to win the championship this past season! :p

As for the Yao thing, it's really not that serious. So they showed some pictures of Yao getting dunked on....it happens.

This isn't really unexpected. I mean, Yao's first couple of big months set him up to be massively overhyped, so there's going to be some backlash from that (when he hasn't lived up to that hype yet), and hey, he's a big target. People are going to be gunning for him just because he's 7'5".

You think when LeBron gets posterized or crossed over that there aren't masses of people just waiting to jump all over him?

This won't be the last time you see Yao highlighted in this kind of situation. It comes with the territory. I suggest you just take it in stride.

    No!

BTW, I have never even had the urge to purchase an issue in the first place! Between the net, radio and in the paper I get more than enough info.
