Seeing how many different threads are dedicated to Yao, and how we all love him, including this one, anywhere from his rehablitation progress to his being declared a "giant", to Yao sightings, it is time for all of us to slow down and appreciate how lucky we are to have gotten that sweet ping pong ball that gave us the first pick, with Stevie Franchise representing the beloved Rockets that day. There were doubters across the country, including many "experts" who said he couldnt make it in the NBA. But look at what he has done. Every year he has improved, with stats comparable to KG's at this stage of his career. But what separates Yao from all the rest? Why do so many love him? Obviously I dont know him personally, but he truly comes across as a good man. His work ethic takes a back seat to no one elses. His attitude is truly pleasant. He conducts himself with honor in every way. He stays out of trouble. He does everything as instructed without so much as a peep of displeasure. His teammates all love him, past and present. Those who mocked him now praise him. His play before his injury was amazing, and will be even better now I believe, after getting back into game shape of course. He will soon be a true dominating force on the court for years to come, and MVP's will ring throughout the world, as there are so many worldwide that love him. The great Yao from China will be MVP of the NBA. Now look at the other greats in basketball history. Jordan, Wilt, Magic, for starters. Most of them have tainted histories in some way. Yao is a breath of fresh air. He carries the load of billions on his shoulders and does so with strength and honor. Having Hakeem here before, and now Yao, let us try to enjoy the moment before it is gone.
Absolutely, refreshing thread, but hopefully this is THE final thread on Yao. Too many Yao's threads spoil the excitement.
Man, Yao has all of that, and a PR agent that routinely posts on his team's message boards. He truly has it made.
You sound like as if he is retiring next season... he's going to be around a long time, he will outlast most of the other players on this team, so relax... All I can say is our team is finally starting to show how crucial Yao is for us, and when he comes back it won't be a game too soon... JVG and the team have done a superb job scrambling for wins, now Yao has to shoulder the load once he gets back to full game fitness in a few games or so, and carry the team to the playoffs...
I really like this thread. I was thinking to start one like this. What Yao brought to us is like a story line of true hero. He just showed achieving a true American dream. Doubts and negatives in the beginning, but he proved all other BAD people's opinion wrong with his hard working. Why we are so fascinated with him? Cause we are part of his story. We believe that ourselves is Yao and battled people like commentators and fans from other teams. We succeed as Yao succeed.
